Reality and UFOs

Paul Kimball wrote, in a comment here the other day about his (almost) non-interest in UFOs…

He, as usual, makes a point, a relevant point.

UFOs and ufology have been, generally, ruminated by persons with a lack of serious intellectual and/or imaginative thinking, not every person but the great majority.

And that patina of shallow thought continues apace even today, after a period of time and UFO witnessed accounts that tell us UFOs may be the doorway to a richer, stranger, even insane reality that surrounds us.

Ghosts hint at an extension of our reality, but UFOs precipitate the idea that there may be a reality or realities with which we are sometimes appended, realities that preclude the overwhelming thinking of UFO acolytes who see the phenomenon as vehicles from outer space, containing or manipulated by extraterrestrial entities.

Ghosts hint at an extension of human death, so one can see why that interests many, but UFOs hint at an extension or extensions to what we assumes is our living reality.

Recent absorption in multiverses, multidimensions, and worlds that abut ours indicate that our reality is not confined, perhaps, to what we perceive or experience daily.

This takes us into discussions about cognizance and consciousness, but that doesn’t mean we can’t surmise the possibility of super-realities or other realities without all the philosophical and neurological mish-mash that beclouds an intelligent overview of the concept we call reality.

I’m reading or reviewing several books about consciousness: The River of Consciousness by Oliver Sacks [Alfred A, Knopf, NY, 2017], Consciousness Explained by Daniel Dennett [Back Bay Books/Little, Brown and Company, NY, 1991], The Conscious Mind by David J. Chalmers [Oxford University Press, NY/Oxford, 1996], among others.

The topic is heady (no pun) for me and beyond the scope of many readers here, from what I discern from their comments at this blog, but consciousness impacts UFOs and the witnessing or study of the things.

Cognition and consciousness, as I mentioned, are required to witness UFOs or slip into the idea that UFOs may come from other realities, but neither is tied to the idea of a UFO reality. (And, yes, I accept that the perception of UFOs may come from a neurological flaw or a glitch in consciousness, and they may be unreal as tangible or material objects.)

UFOs are what I’m fascinated by and you are also – even with the caveat that I may have created a reality of which you are no part and my reality is merely a figment of my mind only – and I’m approaching the topic of UFOs as if they are real (Sorry Zoam Chomsky) and are not from an advanced extraterrestrial race but intrusions from other realities, maybe even time but mostly from external realities that seem to be the au courant fixation of theoretical physicists lately and some UFO enthusiasts, as noted by The Anomalist gang in their daily links to things weird or odd in the paranormal world.

I’ve seen what we call UFOs, including a massive UFO, sighted by thousands of people in and around Detroit, years ago.

And I’ve seen ghosts, even “hunted” with others for some in derelict venues, two observations palpable and while I was fully conscious and seemingly compos mentis.

The ghost “sightings” were intriguing and caused my heart to pump faster than usual but the UFO sightings impacted my thinking, and that’s why I give them more heed than Paul and other paranormalists do.

UFOs, the discussion of them, opens the door to possibilities of reality that invite thinking about what this existence is all about, or not, something ghosts, Big Foot, or Nessie do not do as creatively or as interestingly.

But that’s just my view.

The reality is the government has now released information about UFOs including pictures and videos.
