Ribzwear Front Pack

Once again we run across one of those products that makes you stop and say damn I wish I would have thought of that. It’s the front pack by Ribzwear.  If you have been following us then you will remember my article Bug out bag- two bag system.

Well Ribzwear has taken this concept to the next step. They offer a front pack that consists of two bags that wrap around your rib cage with two crisscrossing shoulder straps and a strap across your back to hold the bag system in place.

The RIBZ front pack consists of 2 large pouches that zip together in the front with two smaller outside zippered pockets. Inside the main pouches are netted compartments. We bought the larger 800 cubic inch pack and had plenty of room for our survival kit and a lot more.

The whole idea here is the same thing I have been saying about a two bag system but actually taken a step further. With the new RIBZ front pack you can take some of the heavier equipment out of your backpack and add them to your front pack. This helps balance your weight, puts less strain on your back and because you are more balanced it feels like you are carrying less weight.

There are so many advantages to this two pack system it makes it a no brainer. Keeping your survival necessities in your front pack gives you the advantage of being able to access them without removing your backpack. It also has the advantage of being able to drop your heavy backpack if pursued and continue with your must have survival gear.

The RIBZ front pack is made of 210d water resistant ripstop nylon. The front pack weighs approx. 9 oz. All components are water resistant and have proven durability in the most extreme of conditions. With an average storage capacity between 600 and 800 cubic inches. The Ribzwear front pack can be used alone as a vest but is primarily designed to work with your existing backpack as increased functionality.

As always before we offer anything to the public we bought and tested one. We took it out on 3 weekend trips now and the last one we intentionally were quite hard on the pack. I went through some very thick brush with it, drug it across the ground and I must say we were impressed with how well it held up. We found it very comfortable to wear even with our backpack on and was not in the way even while bringing a rifle to bear.
