Finding Lost Souls from Oceans to Mountain Tops
Long before we had castaways sipping coconut milk, opening soggy Fedex packages meant for some distant relative or cutting wild root rope with ice skates and sailing against the current into the sould swallowing seas, we had the men and women of the US military and Coast Guard putting life and limb ahead of their own and saving the would be ocean traveler or mountain men hell bent of peaking some Western Hemisphere volcano.

The news often reads “Sword boat fishermen rescued on the Outer Banks” or a familiar one with US Air National Guard Rescues 3 on Mt Hood!” We often think about how horrific it must have been trapped on some ice capped mountain or bobbing in the middle of the vastness of the Ocean with only a prayer of a chance someone will find you. What you sometimes hear is the bravery our US Navy, Air National Guard and US Coast Guard do to prepare and train to find these lost souls. They put fear behind and travel to places already under siege with elements cracking at the side of hulls or wind shears blowing helicopter tail rotors in so many directions making piloting the aircraft nearly impossible. Not all search and rescues end in success. People are often lost and many times we lose people and sometimes we lose the rescuers. It is beyond important to recognize the risk these men and women SAR experts endure to save another life.

While they never blow their own horn it nevertheless is important to recognize those who perform these most humble, if not heroic acts of bravery. One company through its design and printing does take a stand and makes sure that the US Navy and US Coast Guard SAR teams are recognized. Their SAR design drives this point home. Remember that it is the Search and Rescue crews onboard USCG helicopters, US coast Guard Rescue Swimmers, Army Blackhawks and their crews, the US Navy Diver, and just about every seagoing ship that answers the call of emergencies that is to acknowledged for the work they do. Their selfless acts rescue people in the tens if not hundreds of thousands of souls every year.
