What if you knew?
Catching up on some reading over at the Total Survivalist Libertarian Rantfest. Ryan over there mentioned about a video that Youtuber SouthernPrepper1 put up not too long ago asking the question:
What if you knew that between 6 and 18 months from now there would be an economic collapse – what would you do now to prepare?
Obviously hypothetical in nature as we just don’t know what the future holds. BUT, it definitely gets you thinking. If you somehow knew with 100% certainty that the “S” was about to hit the fan within the next 18 months – what would you do?
Watching the video I found my thinking right inline with SP1. Here are a few of my own ideas -
- Food – I would stock up on as much as possible. Like David mentions in the video – I would maximize every dollar by buying items on sale, in bulk, using coupons, etc. Canned goods would make up the bulk of my purchases as well a visit to my local LDS Cannery.
- Water – With the thought that something might happen to the ability to obtain water from my city water supply – I would stock up on water. A lot of water.
- Medical - Prescription and medical supplies would be targeted.
- Power - Would load up on batteries. I would want to expand my small solar system and increase the battery banks capacity. Propane tanks would be added to as well as gasoline in the shed. I would have to purchase more gas cans and fill ‘em up.
- Seeds – ’nuff said.
- Ammunition – would buy more.
- Kerosene heater and Fuel – Winter heating.
