Product Review: Choate Remington 870 Folding Stock

I contacted Choate Machine and Tool about sending me some products to do a review on, and I was EXTREMELY happy that they Sent me their Remington 870 Side Folder Stock.

I have had a lot of good gun mods and a lot of bad ones over the years, however I am VERY happy to say this is in the first category.

When I first opened it up, the first thing I noticed was… STEEL!…not cheap plastic!

Now don’t get me wrong I’m not a mid 20th century “Mickey Mouse Plastic Gun” Snob, I absolutely love PMAGS by Magpul and am a big believe in the injected polymer plastics, but I had a few bad experiences with TAPCO products and nearly swore off plastic gun mods for the most part (well not sworn off, just a healthy distrust!).

Installation was Easy, quick and took about 7 minutes over all, and all i needed was a socket wrench and Phillips head screwdriver!

My main complaint with my fixed stock was that it was a bit too long, and i wanted to have a more compact shotgun, I had looked a Knoxx stocks but heard some complaints about the stock itself “biting” your cheek when you fired.

I had heard of Choate for a long time, quite a few of my shooting friends had various stocks and accessories by them, I also saw a few of their products when I was contracting overseas and was impressed with them, BUT I had yet to own one of my own, so I was very excited for this opportunity.

Like I said I was very impressed and they didn’t disappoint in the least, I really cant find anything negative about the product.  It shot flawlessly and their was no noticeable difference in the recoil, unlike many other side folders/wire stocks I had shot in the past.

Coming in at$95 this is very reasonably priced considering the quality of manufacture and customer Service.
