Deer Tracking
When / if SHTF and you have to fend for yourself, are you confident that you can be a hunter to put meat on the table? The first skill you should work on is tracking. (Assuming you already know how to shoot.) One of the biggest game in the US is deer. Either Mule or White Tail. I have included a chart that shows what deer tracks look like and the size will tell you how big your potential prey may be. Look for tracks in your hunting area after it rains, or need water. Start your hunt before daylight by getting set up around the trails that you have discovered (from the chart). Be patient, move slow, and lead your target if moving. Two deer’s per your would feed my family if butchered and preserved properly.

In a SHTF situation there would be no deer left in 6 weeks or less.
i have some rather tasty cat recipes if youre interested.
looking at those footprints there… looks like someones hunting pussy
it might be possible to catch some deer and start a little deer farm. this could happen only if the government didn’t have time to worry about looking around your property and if you could be smart enough to store or grow other food in the mean time. you would have to own quite a lot of land. also, other wild animals and birds are quite edible to keep and farm. you’d definitely would have to watch out for crazies. be prepared for the wild people. after watching that jericho tv show, i think it would be best to have a small community to hang together. i hope i’m long dead and gone before the world goes this crazy.
They are all ready killing the deer in South West MI.
Some hybred bug bites them in the fall before a good freeze and they die in a few days.
Some area’s are hit harder than other.
When i bought the farm 45 yrs ago it was nothing to see deer now you dont see anything.
I talked with several big farmers and ask do you see any deer at harvest and they shake their head and say no.
One might want to can some meat for those rough days ahead.
I was so hot last summer here some of he fish dies also.
We went out fishing and you could see fish down there but they wouldn’t bite .
The seasons here have not been normal for several years.
If you have country property be prepaired to protect it.
