Bushcraft Survival
What do you think of this for bushcraft survival: “Essential Wilderness Equipment – 7 Items I Never Leave Home Without”: Knife, sharpening stone, fireflash, first aid kit, metal mug, water bottle, compass: http://ow.ly/k2Wal
Commenter 1: “I’m increasingly becoming less fond of the term “first aid kit”. A lot of folks just buy a generic one and throw one into their bag, neglecting to think about what it’s used for, or even how to use it. Then, when the time comes, they might not have what they need, or it might be expired (in the case of meds, ointments, etc…) Personally, I’d provide a list of “personal care supplies” that often includes but is not limited to some band-aids (mainly for blisters)/duct tape, alcohol wipes/iodine, a couple of maxi-pads (they mop up blood, are clean, and dudes, your lady friends will LOVE you!), some steri-strips, a bandana to make a sling or bandages, some Ibuprofen (vitamin I), some benadryl, a roll of tums, prescription meds a cell phone, two pairs of nitrile gloves, and a first aid guide. I might add a length of medical tubing. I guarantee a lot of that is not in the standard first aid kits, but they instead are full of all of these trauma supplies which would be good I guess if I were a medic, but I’m not. I actually sat down and read the first aid guide and what I’ve outlined above pretty much covers what you’ll need for most first aid situations. I know it’s like splitting hairs, but I am of the opinion that a majority of folks appear to be more concerned with the brand crest on their jacket or bag than they are with the their own health or that of a loved one. And with that, we end the sermon from Captain Buzzkill.”
Commenter 2: “Umm., no lipstick! no nail file? what kind of “survival” kit is this? JK! I think a small thing like a whistle is very important too…look at how many hikers etc have been near to trails and near death but no one can see them and they have no way to signal for help…such a small thing but such a good thing…”
Commenter 3: “Camelback backpack to store it in plus a survival bracelet.”
Commenter 4: “I carry a survival whistle and a good quality keychain flaxhlight on my car keychain. One never knows.”
