I received another email last night, Emergency Essentials is having a food storage sale.  The longer you put it off (at least having a month’s worth of food)  the greater the risk of not having the necessary supplies when the situation dictates.

Current events and opinion:

PJ:  But wait, 90% of Americans wanted this…right?  Apparently a poll which only surveyed 1700 people does not reflect the entire population (nor their elected reps) as I noted previously.

POLL: NOBODY CARES ABOUT GUN CONTROL EXCEPT THE MEDIA
PJ:  Obviously we need to take poll data with a grain of salt, even if it reflects information which we find acceptable.  What I do like from this article is the following statement:  What the media do is fabricate a reality that says gun control or immigration or gay marriage or whatever their left-wing agenda is, is the most important issue on the planet. The media manufacture an artificial bubble bubble aimed at fewer than 600 people on Capitol Hill in the hopes of getting their way. It is Orwellian and immoral.

MSNBC analyst: ‘This did happen on tax day in Boston, the place of the Tea Party’
PJ:  First they try to make a connection between the perceived need to do away with the 2nd Amendment (aka culture of violence) and the horrific Boston bombings, and now we see subtle attempts to pin this on the TEA party.

TERRORIST ATTACK IN BOSTON IS AN ASSAULT ON OUR CIVILIZATION – BUT WE MUST NOT RESPOND BY TRADING LIBERTY FOR THE PERCEPTION OF SECURITY
PJ:  This needed to be written and I’m happy to share it.  This is not to say that we should simply sit back and allow these events to occur, but there is no magic wand that can be waved to ensure 100% safety and security for every single person 24/7…nor should we pursue those ends.  For those who fancy a world like that, it’s time to re-read 1984.

The App That Turns You Into a Government Informant
PJ:  Speaking of 1984, this article is a year old but I saw it profiled on the (national) news as this app is available for more than just WV.  Here’s the problem:  This app can turn any nosy—and anonymous—citizen into a live, mobile, state-controlled CCTV cell. And not every nosy citizen knows what is really suspicious. It’s easy to jump to conclusions and send the wrong report—and equally easy to use this maliciously. You don’t have to enter your personal information if you don’t want.

Chinese Auditor Warns “Out Of Control” Chinese Debt Could Spark Bigger Crisis Than US Housing Crash 
PJ:  Is there a country that is completely solvent these days?  The article mentions issuing new debt to repay the old, sort of like taking out a new credit card to make the payments on your existing credit card.  Not exactly something I would recommend doing.

How Empires Fall
PJ:  Great article, take note of the comparisons between the US and Rome.  Key word: complacency.
