Prep Updates 05/03/13

Yesterday I happened to catch a show called Hillbilly Blood on TV.  While the show presents the members of the cast with scenarios to solve (read: not raw unedited footage) I still found some value in what I was watching.  The portrayal of surviving day to day in a mountain environment, interacting within the locals, using ingenuity and skills without the aid of modern conveniences struck me as very relevant.

In one episode they needed a chainsaw but had no money to purchase it.  They collected walnuts and worked through the process of making walnut oil which they traded for old steel saw blades.  They forged those blades into knives which they took to a flea market and traded for a pound of ginseng root.  They then traded that root for an old motorcycle which they had to fix up to get running.  The motorcycle was finally traded for the chainsaw and they were in business, they had gotten what they needed using mountain know how and bartering skills.  Check out the show when you get a chance, you just might like it.

PJ:  Anyone else have politician fatigue?  Anyone else sick of “I’m X, and I approved this message.”  Anyone else sick of “Candidate Y would punch babies in the face and push old people in wheelchairs down flights of stairs, while I would make sure rainbows were in the sky every day while your wildest dreams were fulfilled!”

You have too many bank accounts
PJ:  The MSM want you to consolidate all of your funds into one place so that when the haircuts happen (i.e. money confiscation) it will be a much more efficient process.  :)

California governor signs bill to speed up gun seizures
PJ:  Nothing coming out of this state shocks me, of course this is all for the safety of the general populace so it’s justified.

Raging wildfire forces evacuation of campus, homes in California
PJ:  Another reason to have a bugout bag ready to go at all times.  Evacuation orders could come swiftly and leave very little time to gather valuables.
