I hope you enjoy making this system as much as I did! I spent all last winter at work( I work overnights’) thinking about the design of this system! I wanted it to be simple yet a system that could be expanded and made as large as you wanted! I also wanted to be able to utilize most all of the 2 liter pop bottle for growing medium that way larger plants might be grown in it! I also wanted to make it so you could water it 3 different ways! As always the main purpose that I make these systems is to encourage the most inexperienced gardener to have fun gardening! I feel this system has a flexibility that is unique that it can be easily transported or given as a gift! Complete with planted veggies! Great Hydro system, but dont use all that paint, it taints the food your growing, replace your soil mix with coco rock (cheaper, re-useable, and better air flow).

BPA plastic bottles..bisphenyl A carcinogenic.. Already contaminated grow system.
Agreed, people have to take this idea and wrap it around using plastic without BPA if plastic is required in the idea.

I have a nice 3′wx5′L 12″ deep BPA free tub I found for $60.00 bucks at a grow store, then I took a fitted piece of construction blue board ($30.00 and I get two tops out of it) as my top, its water and mold proof and very sturdy for the amount of growth I get. I cut 8 holes for 6″ net baskets, spent $12.00 on a water pump and $10.00 on hose and connectors that feed each plant with two different water outlets. $55.00 for a bag 60lbs of coco grow rocks, $20.00 for Rockwool cubes.
Set one end of the tub on a 1 1/2 inch slat so all water flows to one end of the tub, place your water pump at the lower end of the tub. The water runs through the system, empties into the tub and and flows back down to the lower end, recycling your water.
So for $112.00 I have a indoor grow system thats been running for three yrs now and still growing strong.
