Survival Gear Review: Genuine US Military All Weather Poncho Liner Blanket

There is a very fine line between comfort and space/weight ratio when it comes to surviving in the outdoors. Even a camping or hiking trip can easily turn into a miserable experience just because of some tiny detail you failed to take into account like for example the cold hard ground, or unexpected rain. For people who like going to weekend trips to the woods, packing a lightweight military poncho liner is very convenient and can really add a level of comfort to the trip. Genuine US military poncho liners are so easy to pack and roll up, take up very little space and will dry out really fast when wet.

The Genuine US Military Poncho Liner

The poncho liner was originally created out of parachute silk for the military in Vietnam in the 60’s. Now the poncho liner is made of tear resistant nylon. There are 2 outer pieces of nylon along which the filler mat is sewn throughout to prevent bunching. Along the outer edges of the liner are laces that can be tied to the poncho’s grommets.

Cons

Was kind of disappointed when I received the poncho liner, they use less fiber fill in it’s construction. I’m hoping this one will keep me as warm as my old one and lasts as long. I have had my old one for over 30years and is only sun faded but the stitching is starting to give way. -  John J. Kaylor

Note that this poncho is the lightweight (“wet weather”) version so it will not be quite as warm of some of the older (now scarce) thicker models. The seller is very honest in displaying the military tag. And this model is perfectly fine for use. – small corgi
