Important Questions To Ask Yourself About Prepping

The following are just random questions to think about when prepping for survival…

How many people are you planning to provide for in an emergency?

Do you have a list of the essential supplies you believe you will need on hand during an emergency?

What are the things you have on hand right now?

Do you fully understand the financial implications of your projected emergency scenarios? (Include costs of preparation and financial obligations that might occur during the emergency or after the emergency)

Do you anticipate the special needs of yourself or that of your family members that might arise during the emergency? (Include nutritional requirements, medical problems, emotional and physical limitations) Do you have plans in place to address these?

In case of a long term crisis (that lasts 6 months or more), what possible medical, psychological, social, or unique factors could potentially arise?

Do you have pets? You need to consider their needs too.

Have you held a family or group meeting that discussed what actions to take during an emergency?

When your projected emergency or crisis scenario does happen, will you bug in or will you bug out and go to a retreat area? If you will be staying put, do you have what you need in terms of water, food, survival gear and other emergency supplies? Do you have enough? Do you need to reinforce your house or shelter? If you will be bugging out or moving to a safe place, do you have a means of transportation or can you walk to the place? Is your second place well-stocked with necessary provisions? Do you have a BOB prepared? How much space and weight is needed to transport supplies?

What mode of communication do you have available in case of emergency? With whom do you need to communicate? Consider 2-way communication devices and 1-way communication from radio stations and emergency broadcasts. Also consider things like: will telecom towers be functioning? How about landlines and internet? Do you need CB radios, hand-held walkie-talkies, short wave radios, etc.?

What transportation options are necessary and available? What fuels do they need? What do you have on hand?

What survival skills do you already know? Will you be needing these if your projected crisis does happen? What other survival skills will you likely need?

Do you have means to protect yourself, your family members and to secure your supplies? (Think firearms, ammunition and other means of self-defense)

Are you prepared enough if the emergency happens in a severe winter?
