Stove Tec Rocket Stove- How Will YOU Cook When SHTF (VIDEO)

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

I want you to do something.  Take your stove/range, unhook it, and put it in the trash.  Now try and cook dinner.

I don’t think many folks realize the significant problems grid down cooking will present. Sure, most preppers and hikers have camp stoves but these are very limited solutions should the world suddenly find itself without the energy sources we use every day. Many might thing that they will cook on a fireplace, wood stove, or even an open fire in this situation. While these solutions might get the job done they do so in a very inefficient manner. The Stove Tec rocket stove is the closest SHTF equivalent you will find to the modern range, both in operation and efficiency.  Imagine a burner on your stove, put it in a portable container that is fired by a few twigs, that is essentially the Stove Tec.

Those familiar with rocket stoves might look at them as a means to cook as that is their primary function. It might be on their list of items to purchase, but it may be way down the list.  What they don’t consider is the importance of efficiency.  Let me tell you this, even as a person surrounded by trees I am very thankful for the Stove Tec.  Assuming you are like me, have a family, and eat three meals a day the Stove Tec is a godsend.  People just don’t “look at the numbers” when considering the resources necessary to even boil a gallon of water using an open fire, wood stove, or fireplace.  They don’t consider the time it takes to fell trees, cut logs, and split wood.  In this review I was able to boil about a gallon of water with less wood than was seen in the video.  This thing sips wood.  It burns wood like my cheap brother-in-law spends money.  To me, this is amazing.  I’ve boiled water on open fires and on wood stoves and the amount of wood needed to do so was many, many times more.  When you consider three meals a day for the rest of your life, using anything other than a Stove Tec becomes absurd.

For those who are astute history buffs you will know that before modern appliances anyone that had the means cooked in a “summer kitchen” during the warmer months of the year.  Cooking with a wood stove might be an efficient use of resources during the winter months, but imagine firing it up in August.  It’s not going to happen.  The Stove Tec fits right in as a ready built burner for a SHTF summer kitchen.  As I mentioned in the video, if you have a large family and can afford it, get two.  While the range I use has 5 burners, I rarely use more than 2.  I plan to build a side by side cook surface for the dual Stove Tecs.

Lastly, everything wears out.  Things that touch fire wear out even faster.  I’ve obviously just received mine, so I cannot comment on the products longevity.  I can only look at the initial build quality and take the manufacturer’s word.  We always try to bring you guys best in class equipment, we don’t bother reviewing junk.  I’d say that the Stove Tec fits “the standard” with nice heavy duty construction.  With proper care it (basically keeping it out of the elements) Stove Tec claims it should last over 10 years with daily use.  I’ve seen lots of folks with their own home brewed solutions, some even using coffee cans (pun intended).  While it is nice to be resourceful and they may work in a pinch most of these homebuilts won’t last a week.  Have you ever thrown a coffee can into a hot fire?  At best it will be completely rusted in short order.  For an item like this I would rather leave it to the professionals.

Now you might be wondering about cost?  You aren’t going to pick one up with the change in your couch cushions.

There are a few choices out there for rocket stoves.  When I am considering a product for review and there are seemingly equal choices I will contact the manufacturer directly.  I will say that I did contact others and for what it is worth I am reviewing the Stove Tec.  The folks at Stove Tec answered my emails and phone calls and offered help when needed.  For my situation, cooking with twigs, wood and biomass they suggested the single door model.  If your situation is like mine, I would suggest the same.

except they are banning wood stoves ~ once again limiting our options, and forcing us to use the expensive options they want us to use – oil ~ while not allowing the keystone pipeline to help bring those costs down.

Debt and expenses are a burdon that tie our hands. they dont want us to be capable of relying on ourselves
