The poison ivy plant can cause a rash that is so itchy and irritating when you come in contact with it.

However, there are household items you can use as first aid to treat poison ivy rash.

Here are the 9 items that can be used to treat poison ivy rash.

Aloe Vera

Fresh Aloe Vera can help soothe the burning sensation of poison ivy rash. All you have to do is apply the aloe on the affected area.

Apple Cider Vinegar

You can use apple cider vinegar to treat poison ivy rash. Put some apple cider vinegar into a bowl or a container and then soak a brown paper bag. Place the soaked paper bag into the affected area to soothe the itching quickly.

The apple cider vinegar will help the healing of the rash quickly and it will reduce the itchiness.

Baking Soda

Baking soda has a lot of survival uses and one of them is for treating poison ivy rash. Mix 3 teaspoons of baking soda with 1 teaspoon of water to make a paste. Apply the paste into your rash and then let the paste flake on its own.

But if you have oozing blisters from your rash, mix 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 4 cups of water. Soak a sterilize gauze in the mixture. Place the wet gauze onto the blisters and let it sit for ten minutes. Do not pop the blisters to avoid infection.

Banana Peel

Did you know that you can use banana peel to treat poison ivy rash? All you have to do is rub the inside of the peel to the affected area. Wait for 15 minutes before washing it.

Cold Compress

Cold compress can help you soothe the itching and burning sensation cause by poison ivy. Place a clean cloth first above the infected area before applying ice on it. Make sure not to leave the wet cloth for 20 minutes to avoid further damage in your skin.

Another way is to soak a clean cloth or gauze in cool water then apply it to the affected area.

Cucumber

Cucumbers can be used to treat poison ivy rash. All you have to do is slice a cucumber and put the slices into the affected area and then let them sit. To prevent the slice from falling you can wrap it with gauze, especially when you’re moving around. You can also mash cucumbers to make a paste, and then apply it to your rash.

Lemon Juice

Apply lemon juice directly in the affected area to soothe the itching cause by poison ivy. The juice of the lemon is considered as a natural stringent because of its acidity.

Due to its acidity, lemon juice has the ability to break through the toxic oils that can cause the rash. So when you have come in contact with the poisonous plant apply lemon juice right away. Doing this will prevent the urushiol from causing more damage to your skin.

Oatmeal

Another item that you can use to treat poison ivy rash is oatmeal. An oatmeal bath can help you soothe the itchiness of the rash. You can also make plain oatmeal to treat poison ivy rash. Let the oatmeal sit for a few minutes to make it really thick, so that you can use it as a paste. Apply it to your rash and leave it for 15 minutes.

Rubbing Alcohol

Once you have come into contact with poison ivy, apply rubbing alcohol right away. The rubbing alcohol will decrease the damage by breaking down the urushiol, an allergen that is found in poison ivy plants.

Poison ivy rash can easily be treated with the use of these items, and you can apply these items easily.

      serious Poison Ivy rashes are due to allergic reaction. Take anti-allergy medication that contains anti-histimine to dry up sinuses…it worked for me! dried it right up like nothing else. want to hear me swear by it? hot-dang it’s good!!
