• Coyotes?! Really? They are so easy to scare away.
• Coyotes are terrified of loud noises. We always carry panic whistles with us for coyotes or if we get separated/lost. (Bad idea in avalanche areas.) Fire will keep a lot of predators at bay and attract human help attention, too.

• Just pick up a large stick act aggressive, throw rocks ,yell, be a man and not a pathetic little whimper. Coyotes, lol! Now grizzly bear is another story. Sheesh even black bears are easy to scare away. And a mountain lion will only sneak attack, not to your face.

• I was also going to say fire. Fire trumps most things. Enough applied and anything will burn.
