- I have actually camped through 2 hurricanes in CT (less wind, incredible rains). Actually slept in my car on one of them, my tent was like a lake.
- Dumb things? I one went backpacking in the BWCA. The tent I brought along was a cheap $20 survival tent. Turns out I did not read the instructions as the tent does not come water proofed. It rained for the entire trip. For 3 days I was unable to completely dry off.
- Trusted an Oregon Cascades forecast. Camped through a freak snowstorm on August 31st… luckily for my daughter, I hadn’t taken her snow pants, boots or jacket out of the emergency bag I always keep in my car for road trips (over the pass to family)… she was plenty warm enough and thought it was hilarious. The rest of us, however, froze in ou r T’s, flip flops and light fleece jackets. Lol. Never again.
