USA -(Ammoland.com)- NRA members who receive Shooting Illustrated as their magazine will read all about the newest offering from Springfield Armory, the Saint, which is the company’s first AR-15-style rifle, in the December issue.

Long known for producing 1911 pistols and M1A rifles in .308 Win., Springfield Armory has dipped its toe in the AR-15 market, teaming up with Bravo Company to produce the unique Saint rifle.

In addition to this new AR-15-style carbine, there’s more for the AR aficionado in December.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a sound suppressor to your favorite rifle, a muzzle brake with a QD attachment makes putting them on and taking them off a snap.

There are many such devices on the market for this purpose, and we cover suppressor-ready muzzle devices from AAC to YHM.

Suppressors are great safety tools, and they are legal for hunting in 40 states.

If you’re a fan of hog hunting or other nighttime pursuits, you’re probably aware of the explosion in thermal optics that make “seeing” in the dark possible.

Once the sole province of Soldiers and those with significant expendable income, thermal imaging sights have become much more affordable to the consumer market.

Our “Rifles” editor takes a look at a handful of (more) budget-friendly offerings and lets you know how they perform.

More than likely, if you like ARs, suppressors and cool technology that lets you see in the dark, you’ll appreciate our “2016 Knife Guide,” too.

Dozens of fixed-blade knives, folders and “other” bladed items are included this year, and offer everything from a Shooting Illustrated-themed push-dagger to an actual spear.

Yes, a spear.

If you’ve an appreciation for the stabby, this is the issue for you.

If you enjoyed Shooting Illustrated on the newsstand and wish to continue reading the magazine, you’ll need to sign up for an NRA membership.

If you are already a member, you can change your magazine selection today online at nra.org or via telephone by calling (877) NRA-2000.

Alternatively, you can add Shooting Illustrated to your existing membership for $9.95 per year.
