Ten Failures That FEMA Doesn’t Want You to Know About

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) partners with Homeland Security to aid Americans and people in other countries in case a major disaster occurs. They give out food and water and help provide shelter to those who have lost their homes. But it has only been in recent years after terrorist attacks on U.S. soil that Homeland Security has joined this group. This has increased suspicions towards why a group that was created to fight terrorists would need to be involved in aiding those who have been in an earthquake or flooding. Few Americans feel that they have any hope of being able to truly count on their assistance because of this. But that isn’t the only reason. FEMA has been hiding several truths from Americans who falsely believe that they will save them in case a catastrophe strikes. Read on for ten of them that will make you remember why you absolutely must have your own disaster plan and survival supplies ready.

1. Only the Elite Will Get Aid

FEMA has high standards as to who they will actually help in case of a disaster, and few people actually qualify. There are also only certain areas and communities that they are willing to protect, so if someone does not live in that location, they are out of luck unless they have enough money to buy their way out of trouble.

2. Limited Communication

The only way to contact FEMA is through the internet or by phone. But as most preppers know, these are always down during major catastrophes. So it is often impossible to contact them or even get help in finding their phone number.

3. Little Food or Water

Although FEMA has been stockpiling MRE’s, water, and other supplies for quite a while now, it takes even more than what they have to feed a multitude of people who are in need. There simply will not be enough food and water for everyone. And some sources say that this has been FEMA’s plan all along. If people don’t know how to live off of the land and survive on their own, then they have to turn to others who have the supplies that they need. This means that FEMA has a greater control over the population of those who are desperately hungry and thirsty.

4. Too Many People

The amount of people in need will spell trouble during a catastrophe. Tensions will be high as people go into panic mode. Supply storage facilities may be raided and the food stolen as well, which will prevent careful distribution plans from working.

5. Bad Food

The large amount of food and water that FEMA has to store makes it virtually impossible for every item to be checked for quality. Many of their MRE’s have been found to be contaminated before. This is especially dangerous because medical help and supplies are limited during catastrophes because of the high volume of people who are often injured. So if someone gets food poisoning, there won’t be anyone to help.

6. Poor Housing

FEMA brings in trailers for people to live in when their houses are destroyed, which sounds like a blessing at first. However, the poor construction materials that they use to build them with have been found to contain formaldehyde that makes those who live in them sick. The amount of trailers and space inside them is limited too. So most people are out of luck for getting shelter.

7. No Remorse

FEMA sets up camps for people to live in when they lose their homes, but if the camps get too crowded, they will force some people to leave. It doesn’t matter if they are sick, elderly, or have children. FEMA has forced people to leave their camps before, even if they had no supplies or way to defend themselves, which is essentially sending them to their deaths.

8. High Cost of Living

Sadly, FEMA has proven to be more concerned about money than people when a catastrophe occurs. They often require victims of a disaster to pay back the assistance that they receive. And if they can’t, they end up in a worse situation than they were in during the catastrophe. Occasionally, FEMA provides free money to those who suffer huge financial losses from natural disasters, but it is rare. Many people who thought that they were getting free government assistance were surprised when FEMA sent them a bill for it afterwards.

9. Limited Staff

The amount of qualified FEMA staff is actually limited. And it is even more strained if several catastrophes occur all at once because all of their people are spread too thin. There is generally not enough people who will be able to offer protection, medical care, or even emotional support if a crisis arises. This means that most people are left to scrounge up whatever supplies they can on their own.

10. High Amount of Losses

Unfortunately, FEMA already knows what most Americans don’t. There will be a huge amount of casualties because so few people are prepared for a state of emergency to happen. Because of this, they are already prepared to bury thousands of people with a stash of coffins that they keep handy. Although this sounds cruel, it should be used as motivation for people to not expect FEMA to be their savior in case of a disaster. They have to be able to handle situations on their own instead.

As you can see, this organization is highly motivated to work against the American people, not for them. That is why it is extremely important that people start preparing now for a possible crisis. Foods that have a long shelf life and don’t need refrigeration are the most important to have on hand. Freeze dried food can last for about 25 years, so it is the best to keep. But canned foods that can be easily heated up are also important in case there isn’t enough water to rehydrate it. These types of foods are all easily found for sale at www.survivalcavefood.com. They come in airtight containers to avoid pests from getting into them too. And the website has a neat calculator tool, so you can determine how much food that you need to keep on hand per person to survive.
