The 7 Best Rifles If You Want Cheap Ammo

When it comes to defending your home or harvesting big game, it’s time to go to the rifle. Handguns may be more convenient to carry for personal defense, but except for the most powerful Magnum cartridges, their performance is marginal. Rifles beat them in the accuracy department, too.

If you have rifles that you treasure but find that it can be expensive to feed them, then check out these seven rifles that can help keep you proficient without breaking the bank.

1. Ruger 10/22

As you likely suspected, this list has to start with a 22. It is the cheapest rifle on the market, and many fundamentals of rifle shooting can be duplicated with a rim-fire. We like the 10/22 because even someone lacking in gunsmith skills can customize these rifles with ease.

If your main rifle is a lever action, you can substitute the 10/22 for a Henry or if ARs are you thing, the S&W MP15/22 might be more to your liking. Maybe you roll with a bolt gun; we are partial to the Savage Mk II. Companies like Walther and German Sport Guns offer rim-fire versions of HK MP5s, AK-47s and a few others.

I’ve got two on your list, the RAS 47 and the AK 74 . I’m doing fine .

  • You can get cheap ammo for any gun if you get it here. It’s where I get mine.

If you really want it cheap you can purchase all of the equipment needed to do your own reloads, but it takes time and if you don’t know what you’re doing you can put in too much gun powder and blow your gun up, depending on if your gun can handle +p or +p+. It’s also time consuming, obviously.

If you like the 9mm like me the cheapest ammo I’ve found locally in a brass casing is Perfecta brand. $9.97 for a 50ct. box at the Wal-Mart. It’s usually gone when I get there because everyone seems to know about it and they get bought out quick. If I get lucky they just stocked up but that rarely happens. It’s good plinking ammo but I’d never use anything but a +p hollow point for walking around ammo because I’m just an ok shot.

Best polymer tipped hollow points you can buy. I think they’re about $27usd for a box of 20.

    • Might I suggest gunbot.net
put in your price per round you’re willing to pay, you’ll never find it cheaper. In fact, bulkammo is on their list of retailers for realtime tracking. You can get some absolutely amazing deals if you’re quick. I just leave it running when I’m at home working.

My fav is a Marlin 22
Its super easy to speed load it by getting some fat straws burn to seal 1 end of the straw put 9,22s in the straw seal with duct tape
Wala 2straws and its quickly loaded full
    Have 1000s of the straws
Any other old Rangers in here
