Good Neighbor Fire Gun To Run Off Robbers

USA –-(Ammoland.com)- The Charleston Gazette Mail reports 11-07-2016 in Pinch, West Virginia on Sunday at about 4:40 p.m., the man called 911 reporting he that interrupted a burglary at his neighbor’s home according to Sgt. Brian Humphreys, spokesman for the Kanawha Sheriff’s Office.

He said he saw the people at his neighbor’s house and confronted them. He also shot their vehicle, striking the rear glass and a tire before they fled.

Deputies found one suspect, age 31, at his home in Charleston and charged him with burglary. An accomplice, age 18, who had been grazed by one of the bullets the neighbor fired, was taken to the hospital.

The resident, who the Sheriff’s Office has not named, was not charged.

Authorities confirmed the neighbor does not face charges, noting that it takes police longer to respond to emergencies in rural areas like Pinch and that the burglars “had pulled a gun on him.”

Comments:

Rural Officers are so much more understanding of response times. They rarely if ever arrive in time to help. Hopefully the shooter will come out of this OK.

Shooting at a fleeing vehicle is hard to justify with the “I was in fear of death or serious injury defense”.

Even in rural West Virginia, it’s prudent for this helpful neighbor to not talk about this adventure with anyone but instead to “lawyer up”.

In our everybody sues everybody legal system, I can already hear a lawsuit lawyer thinking the grazed 18 year old might be “traumatized for life.”
