U.S.A.-(Ammoland.com)- Corey Stewart is running for the Republican nomination for Governor of Virginia. He is currently the At-Large Chairman of Prince William County. He is running on a platform of cracking down on illegal immigration, protecting the 2nd Amendment, and pro-growth economics for The Commonwealth.

Under Mr. Stewart’s leadership Prince William County initiated biggest crackdown on illegal immigrants in the country. Prince William County turned over 8000 criminal illegal immigrants to the U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.

The end result was a drop of over 48% in violent crime in Prince William County.

Mr. Stewart is also a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. He fought successfully to remove all county fees associated with the concealed handgun permit which lowered the price to the state minimum. Prince William became the first county in Virginia to do so. He has also supported and fought for constitutional carry throughout the state.

Mr. Stewart has also fought for lower taxes. He successfully pushed through the largest tax cut in Prince William County history. This lead to a saving of $205 million for residents of the county. Economic growth took off giving the county the title of first in the state and third in the nation for job growth.

Corey Stewart has taken a place out of Donald Trump’s playbook by taking on the establishment and the press. Much like Donald Trump, the press has attacked him for standing by his beliefs that doesn’t line up with their ideas. Mr. Stewart is has showed up to protect confederate monuments, embraced his conservative value ideas even if that put him at political risk, and has even pledged “to drain the swamp” in Richmond

I had a chance to talk to Corey Stewart and learn where he stand on the issues important to the readers of AmmoLand News.

John: What is your background?

Corey: At-Large Chairman of Prince William County, the 2nd largest locality in Virignia and an International Trade Attorney

John: What made you decide to run for Governor of Virginia?

Corey: The Swamp in Richmond needs draining just like in DC. I’ve had success in making Prince William County the #1 County in the state for jobs, keeping taxes low, cracking down on illegal immigration, and eliminating all fees associated with concealed carry fee. I will do the same for Virginia and pass Constitutional Carry throughout the state.

John: Virginia’s economic growth have become stagnant. How do you fix that to help the economy grow?

Corey: By getting the government off the back of the business owner, reducing taxes and regulation and ensuring our tax climate is competitive with other states like North Carolina and Texas.

John: We know you are against illegal immigration. How would you deal with a city in Virginia if they decided to become a sanctuary city?

Corey: They’d immediately lose state funding, and I’d do what I could to remove their federal [funding].

John: What do you see as the biggest issues facing the state?

Corey: Government is the problem. We’ve got to get government out of our lives, out of our business, and out of the business of legislating what we are allowed to think, say, or write. It’s getting out of control.

John: What is your experience with firearms?

Corey: I enjoy skeet shooting and hunting on an occasion, mostly duck hunting. Most of my experience would be in hunting but enjoy going to the range for target practice as well.

Corey Stewart and Family

John: You were instrumental in getting the concealed carry fee in Prince William County reduced to the state minimum. Do you support constitutional carry?

Corey: I support Constitutional Carry 100% and will call for the General Assembly to deliver it to my desk for my signature as soon as I’m sworn in.

John: What is your opinion on the so-called “assault weapons” bans that some states have passed?

Corey: Weapons bans are anathema to a free society.

John: Do you support the hearing protection act currently in congress?

Corey: I support the deregulation of suppressors.

John: Do you support magazine capacity limitation laws?

Corey: It is no business of the government’s what kind or how many firearms I own. It is similarly none of their business how many rounds those firearms may fire.

John: Do you think local municipalities have the right to ban such things as open carrying of firearms?

Corey: Preemption should control at the state level.

John: What do you think of the National Firearms Act? Do you think it is time to repeal it? Does barrel length laws within the NFA make sense?

Corey: The NFA doesn’t take into consideration the words “shall not be infringed.” So it needs to be repealed.

John: What is your opinion of gun free zones? Do you think they make us more or less safe?

Corey: There is no question gun-free zones create for unsafe, unprotected populace.

John: Now the million dollar question. Why should the voters in Virginia vote for you over your opponents?

Corey: Both of my opponents ARE the swamp in Richmond and in D.C. We cannot expect our economy to improve if we give the reins of government over to Virginia’s oldest, most corrupt swamp creatures.
