Magpul Sling MS3 Review

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The MagPul Sling MS3 is a great place to start for a first sling or if you don’t know what you want in a sling.

Magpul has been making great products since 1999 when they came out with their namesake, a Magpul.  I bought lots of them back in 2001 and went to war with one on every one of my mags in 2003.

Since then the company has expanded like crazy!  It has more product lines then I can count.

I still use a Magpuls on all my AR mags and have since bought a bunch of their other products.

Sling on one of my ARs

My current favorite product they make is the Magpul Sling MS3.  I have a couple of first-generation slings and one of the second gens.  I love them and use one on multiple weapon systems.

This is a great starter sling or a sling to put on a rifle that you aren’t sure what kind of sling you are going to use.  The greatest feature of the sling is its adaptability.

Going from a 2-Point to Singal-Point Sling is this easy

With the adaptability, you can hook it anywhere on your rifle with little to no modifications or extra hardware.  I use small pieces of 550 cord as anchors on most of my rifles.

The sling can also be adapted to run as a single-point or two-point sling.

With these two benefits, I run MagPul MS3 Slings on most of my rifles, carbines, and PCCs.

The Paraclips work easy and stay put

The hooks (paraclips) are easy to use and I can switch between different carry options by simply pushing a button to unlock the clamp and then squeezing it together and hooking the sling somewhere else.

The last feature I use a lot is the adjustability.  It’s fast and easy to adjust the sling to different links.  The sling has a giant plastic buckle in the middle.  Hold the rifle to take the weight off the sling, grab the buckle, and just move it up and down the sling to adjust the sling length.  You don’t even have to take the rifle off your body!

I used this option when I ran overseas to adjust the sling for body armor and different bulky clothing.

Here in the real world, I use the sling adjustment to hold the rifle tight against my body when I need to sling it.  Instead of letting the rifle flop around on the end of the sling, I adjust the sling tight and pull the rifle against me, that way I don’t have it flopping around when I’m trying to do something else.

This one lives on my Ugly AK

The sling is ultra-durable.  I have yet to break anything I’ve bought from Magpul and this includes these slings.  The only reason I have multiple Magpul MS3 Slings is that I wanted another one, I lost one, and I didn’t want to change it back and forth on different weapons.

If you get one of these slings you won’t be disappointed.

Get the version with paraclips and not the QD mounts, unless you run QD mounts everywhere.

Get one at LA Police Gear (one of my favorite places to shop), Palmetto State Armory, or sometimes on Amazon.com.

Overview

The Good:

  • Convert from single-point to two-point with just a simple clip placement
  • Adjust length with just a pull of the buckle without removing anything from the rifle
  • The durability makes this thing almost unbreakable
  • The Paraclips make it easy to clip the sling to any weapon and change it form weapon to weapon

The Bad:

  • Price MSRP at about $50
  • They are hard to find right now
  • Bulky when folded up

The Ugly:

  • No quick release or Quick Side Release buckle to get out of the sling quickly
  • Paraclips are the wrong size to hook on most rifle sling hooks.  I use 550 cord to make a loop and attach the sling

Conclusion

This is one of the best slings ever.  Being instantly adjustable, it can adapt to any weapon system easily, being unbreakable it is my choice.

If you are looking for a single or two-point sling, this is the best sling on the market.

Stay Safe,

Ben

Buy it on LA Police Gear (one of my favorite places to shop), Palmetto State Armory, or sometimes on Amazon.com.
