Autumn Woodsman Course – Three Spots Remaining

If we have learned anything from the pandemic, it’s that you’re on your own when things get tough. Unless you give a lot of money to politicians they don’t care whether you live or die. So this is a great time to start taking control of your self-reliance needs. In northern Maine we’re sure of one thing; winter will be long and hard. Get a jump on it by learning the skills needed to survive in the cold before the cold is harsh and the snows are deep.

We’ve got three spots left on our November Autumn Woodsman course, which runs November 1-7 at the field school in Masardis, Maine. It’s designed to teach you what you need to know to live in the cold, before the snows are deep. Confidence is born from experience. This is not false bravado, it’s knowing you can do it again because you’ve done it before. Knowing you can is a different animal thank thinking you can.

We spend a lot of time on using an axe safely and efficiently, a lot of time on lighting fires in all weather conditions, cooking on open fires and pot suspension systems, choosing and using a good knife and why a $20 knife is more useful than an expensive custom blade, shelters for the individual and the group, using trail woodstoves, setting up canvas tents, wild foods available in the north in the late fall, and much more.
