Urgent-Call Now: Annexation Reform

Hi Everyone,

This Action Alert is directed to Senator Martin Nesbitt’s constituents in NC District 49.

NC Senator Larry Shaw, who introduced a TRUE annexation reform bill in the last session of the General Assembly, has been speaking with Senator Martin Nesbitt (District 49) about his (Shaw’s) desire to move ahead with genuine annexation reform this session. Senator Nesbitt will be speaking with Senator Marc Basnight about this issue. Just so you know, we are talking about the people who currently hold the power — Sen. Nesbitt is the majority leader of the Senate and Sen. Basnight is the president of the Senate — they are major deal-makers and deal-breakers.

What we want
That Sen. Nesbitt will talk to Sen. Basnight and help others to get Sen. Shaw’s legislation out this session.

Please call Senator Nesbitt as soon as you can: (919) 715-3001 in Raleigh AND (828) 252-0490 in Asheville.

1. Please be kind, polite and respectful.
2. The message: “Senator Nesbitt, I am in your district, and I understand that Senator Shaw wants to move ahead with true annexation law reform this session. I support Senator Shaw’s action! Please do all you can to allow his legislation onto the floor of the Senate and help his efforts to enact genuine annexation law reform now. Thank you.”

Thank you for your efforts to make North Carolina a more just place to live! Please feel free to forward this message to anyone who will make the calls, especially if you are a group leader. You can email if you want, but I have been told that Sen. Nesbitt does NOT look at his emails. Phone calls are the best way to communicate urgently with him.
