Election 2012, Queensland Finally Saved From the ALP

The Tea Party’s David Goodridge At Browns Plains in Support Of The LNP’s Michael Pucci

Queensland State Election 2012, My Contribution and Observations

It was time for me to take part in the election process instead of simply voting or writing. I for one was sick of the Australian Labor Party’s (ALP) way of governing (read trashing) of Queensland.

It was remarkably simple and worth the effort. I drove to Browns Plains School to support Liberal National Party (LNP) candidate Michael Pucci.

It was some distance to go but I wanted to go where my support was needed otherwise my efforts would have been wasted.

I spent several hours handing out ‘how to vote’ pamphlets to people. Several people told me or indicated they voted for Mr Pucci. Other made it clear they didn’t vote for him as well but that’s to be expected.

The star of the day was the Tea Party’s own Tegan Goodridge who was there well before polling opened helping with posters etc., handing out how to vote cards all day and then clearing everything after polling closed.

Rosina Mason-Parker who is a good friend of the Tea Party was there as well and her efforts were also greatly appreciated. Rosina is often out there at elections, meetings or protests doing what she can.

Linus Power of the ALP was there for a few hours as well meeting the electorate as well as independent candidate Mike Kelly.

Mr Powers’ father was there handing out ALP how to vote cards and I spoke with him and the other people handing out their parties pamphlets as well as the candidates who were there.

They were all very friendly and a nice reminder that politics can be conducted in a civilised manner. This is something Anna Bligh should have realised before she began her smear campaign. Anna Bligh should be ashamed of herself.

Mr Pucci won the formerly safe ALP seat of Logan and I am happy to have done a small part to help rid Queensland of the ALP government.

In this election premier elect Campbell Newman has achieved the boldest move ever seen in Australian politics.

He took the leadership of the LNP from outside of Parliament and entered from what was a relatively safe ALP seat.

The LNP obviously learned from their previous defeats and did something about it. The LNP was seen as lacklustre and not up to the job. They took a chance making then Brisbane lord mayor Campbell Newman the LNP leader and it has paid off. Not only did they win they came close to driving the ALP into political oblivion.

With the ALP’s defeat in Queensland there are suggestions being made that the federal ALP government has something to learn from this.

It’s a reasonable observation but the reality is there’s actually nothing for the federal ALP to learn. They know full well why the ALP lost QLD and they know full well the same fate awaits them. They are mostly in parliament solely for their own benefit and to get out of it what they can.

To say they have something to learn is suggesting they are trying to govern for Australians and just have it wrong. They don’t have it wrong as such because they aren’t governing for Australia, they are just doing the wrong thing by Australia and we have it wrong if we believe otherwise.

There is a lesson for the Greens though. The Greens were completely removed from parliament in Queensland. The lesson there is people do not want to be part of the Greens radical and unrealistic agendas. The Greens might want to reconsider their one world government and anti-Israel approach and get back to actually being the environmental party they used to be.

Denial and spin was expected from the ALP and course they delivered. The now former ALP member for Ashgrove Kate Jones said Queensland has gone backwards in not having enough female members elected to parliament.

That comment is a major insult to the people of Queensland because gender wasn’t on the agenda of why Queenslanders voted the ALP out of government in Queensland. The ALP were voted out because people are sick of the lies, the spin and having their lives made more and more difficult by a government that just doesn’t care about the consequences its actions have on Queensland.

She knows this though, she’s playing the gender card and looking for any excuses to avoid any form of responsibility.

Instead of graciously conceding defeat Kate Jones chose to display the pathetic arrogance that contributed to the ALP’s election loss.

Anna Bligh told her supporters “days like today are very, very tough days”.

Anna’s crying about tough days? She wouldn’t know what a tough day was. How many people in Queensland are experiencing tough days every day thanks to Anna Bligh and the ALP?

She also claimed the ALP have a record “to be very proud of”, pointing to her government’s so called efforts steering the state through the global economic crisis, and its performance in education, health and environment.

You and your government have nothing to be proud of Anna, you took a state with a strong economy and trashed it. The global crisis would not have been so bad for Queensland if she hadn’t saddled this state with a massive debt.

She’s trying to take credit for steering us out of a crisis she created. She steered us into it to begin with and she certainly hasn’t steered us out of it.

And education? The education Queensland got is the ALP can’t be trusted.
Health? She made waiting lists longer and wasted millions on expensive programs that don’t work.

Environment? Is she for real?

The ALP was showing complete disdain for the electorate who have in turn shown nearly every ALP member of parliament out the door.

With Anna the lies continue, after saying she would serve her full term in parliament if the ALP lost she has now resigned. At least by leaving though Anna can say without lying she has done one thing that is for the good of Queensland.

Former premier Peter Beattie was saying Anna Bligh must give up her seat to allow another person to lead the ALP saying this was the ALP’s best hope.

As usual with the ALP Peter Beattie is ignoring the reasons why the ALP was unceremoniously turfed from office.

The ALP’s best hope is to get their hands out of the electorates’ pockets and work to the benefit of the people of Queensland.

Peter suggested Andrew Fraser but he declined. Smart move on his part. He doesn’t want to lose twice.

Anna Bligh’s legacy to Queensland isn’t that of being the country’s first female premier but of someone, who within a couple of years of becoming premier, selfishly trashed a prosperous state and reeked misery and hardship on the very people her party is supposed to represent.

Now Queensland has told the ALP we’re not listening to their lies and letting them make our lives difficult anymore.

Queensland has spoken and given all present and future governments a very strong message.

Roll on 2013 and our opportunity to turf the ALP out at the federal level. Despite the usual denials Julia Gillard knows the recent removal of the ALP state governments in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland is a message to her government. We don’t want the ALP or the Greens running our nation into the ground anymore.
