Many Victories to Celebrate, More Work to be Done

With election night over, the Louisville Tea Party celebrates our victories and looks to the future.  Nationally, the balance of power remains relatively the same:  Obama remains in the White House; Democrats keep a Senate majority; Republicans keep control of the House.  And, although it was certainly not a perfect night–not by far–locally, we made some serious gains.

Marilyn Parker won her Metro Council race by a huge margin, becoming the first former LTP Board Member to become an elected official!  We also celebrate the victory of LTP endorsed Thomas Massie who will bring common sense principles to the US House of Representatives.  Liberty-minded candidate Russell Webber is our newest Kentucky State Representative.  And, School Board Candidate Chuck Haddaway made history by becoming the first elected school board member for as long as anyone can remember who was not endorsed by the JCTA.

Thank you for all the hard work from those of you who helped to make these victories possible.  But, the work is not over yet.

Despite high unemployment numbers, skyrocketing energy prices, and huge deficits, Obama was reelected for a second term.  It has left most of us scratching our heads, wondering what it will take to wake up Americans nationally as we head into what can only be an even more destructive next 4 years.

The national results serve as a reminder that we must remain vigilant in our mission to move this country towards fiscally responsible, Constitutionally limited government.

Since the beginning of the tea party movement to restore America, we have made great progress in improving state and local governments across the country.  The groundswell of liberty-minded patriots is making grassroots gains little by little, and even on a national level with the election of tea party principled people like Rand Paul and Thomas Massie.  Through educating the public, and continuing our grassroots efforts, we can see more changes in our federal government.

We have to keep the pressure on our officials, both locally and federally, and we need your help now more than ever.  Four years from now, we will want to look back and say we did all we could to minimize Obama’s damage, and that we laid the foundation for a more Constitutional government.  WE are our best hope to secure a better America, so let’s do the work, and protect our freedom.
