Australia’s democratic beliefs, rights and liberties
At the citizenship ceremony, you pledge that you share Australia’s democratic beliefs and that you respect the rights and liberties of the people of Australia.
Our Democratic beliefs:
- Parliamentary democracy -
This has been destroyed by the Speaker - It is a
one-ocracy in the Speakers hands - The rule of law -
While ever the Government has complete control of the Law Our democratic beliefs are being abused - Living peacefully -
This should be possible, however over the last 5 years the inmates have been running the asylum - Respect for all individuals regardless of background -
This is being challenged, not by refugees, bt by a government that not only have failed to stem the tide of Asylum Seekers arriving by boat, have seen a wild increase and now are prepared to pay them so they can live in society while their “Claims” are being processed. Magically this Government believes these people will not disappear once their claims are rejected and they have to return to Indonesia. - Compassion for those in need -
Australians are some of the most compassionate people in the world, however, we donate what we can afford, we don’t want our Government making huge donations on our behalf, as we will have already donated once.
Our freedoms:
- Freedom of speech and freedom of expression -
Yet again this government has attacked these 2 freedoms in threatening the media with new laws making it impossible for the media to report anything that is not approved by the Government.
Similarly Nicola Roxon has drafted new Legislation that will make it a crime to disagree with any one, and mean blog sites like this would be closed down together with many other sites and Groups that disagree with the Government’s views. - Freedom of association
This has been so badly arranged that who, why, where, and when has become blurred, and with the Government Legislation being overturned in High Court, no one knows where we stand with this.
Freedom of religion and secular government
This Government is making a move to discredit religion, and have called for an enquiry into paedophilia in Catholic Parishes. This Commission is not looking into the amount of Government officials that have been caught out, or even into Sports, so it is obvious this Inquiry is more to do with an attack on religion than a serious look at paedophilia in organisations of trust. It isn’t looking into Islamic Mosques or Islamic society which has been known since the time of Muhammad for paedophilia in the name of religion with children as young as 9.
Our equalities:
- Equality in Australia
Equality in Australia was reasonably positive 5 years ago, however in the past 5 yrs Labor has mounted a class war in our society that has caused some deep division in our equality of life beliefs - Equality of men and women
This is something that needs addressing constantly, if a man and a woman are doing the same type of work, than neither should receive more or less the same amount of money, depending of course on individual experience. - Equality of opportunity
This has been in place a long time, however, it is a matter of how to regulate it. We can’t just say a certain percentage should be women for this is sexist, although the government does not seem to grasp sexism against men the same as they do against women. What must be looked at is why a male or female was taken on, or promoted and whether this was a justifiable reason for the decision. Not easy I grant you, but we should never accept discrimination as the reason for a decision being made either way.
Having said this the Government should stay out of this apart from acting against employers proven to be habitual offender of discrimination
