A Presidential Tantrum

I just witnessed a President throw a tantrum on national television. I can’t recall ever seeing a less Presidential event. What an embarrassment. And what a self-obsessed, dishonest speech. Obama said it was a “shameful day in for Washington”. Yes, it was because I’ve never seen a President of the United States act so shamefully….so lacking statesmanship.

Obama said the Nation took up the cause to stop the senseless slaughter of children. No, the “Nation” didn’t. HE did. His greatest desire is to disarm the country and he believed the Sandy Hook tragedy was his chance to get that done. After all, he wouldn’t like a crisis go to waste. He paraded the families of the Sandy Hook children across the national stage and even had the teary daughter of the Principal give his weekly address. He had his “Organizing for America” sponsor Anti-Gun Rallies across the country right before the vote. He said a small minority prevented this bill from passing. Once again, no, it was a majority that included Democrats. Apparently, more Senators understood what “infringed” means than didn’t. It’s refreshing to know at least 54 Senators care about protecting our Constitutional rights.

Obama raged against gun lobbies (NRA) saying they frightened Senators into believing they would face primary challenges if they voted for the bill. I would hope any Senator who voted against our Constitutional protections would face a primary challenge. If the Senators who voted against the bill did so because they were afraid of “We the People” that’s OK with me. They should be afraid. They are elected to serve us, not the other way around.

The Anti-Gun lobby kept saying 90% of America supported expanded background checks. I don’t know where they get this information because millions of Americans signed petitions, faxed, e-mailed, and called DC to protect our gun rights. Millions joined the NRA even if they didn’t own a gun. And millions more held pro-gun rallies across the country.

Obama didn’t get his way and that’s what he’s upset about. If he were concerned with children being slaughtered he’d want to prevent the Kermit Gosnells of the world from cutting the spines of full term babies. He’d be concerned with the nearly 4000 abortions performed a day in this country. If preventing deaths was his goal, armed guards at schools, hospitalization of dangerously insane and securing our border would be more effective than taking guns from law abiding citizens.

Obama said gun lobbies “willfully lied” about the consequences of background checks…..while he “willfully lied” that they would have done anything to prevent the recent events. If there had been an armed guard at Sandy Hook those sweet children would be in the arms of their families right now instead of the arms of angels.
