Obamacare Cometh

“I just see a huge train wreck coming down,” said Democratic Senator Max Baucus (D-MT) of Obamacare’s full implementation in 2014. The Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, who was responsible for writing much of the law, was speaking to stone-faced Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. Baucus said his state’s small business owners “have no idea what to do, what to expect. They don’t know what affordability rules are. They don’t know what penalties may apply … a lot of people have no idea about all of this.”

Sebelius blamed sequester cuts in government spending for impeding her department’s “outreach” to American small business. She did not say how much time or money would be required to explain her 15,000-page manual of Obamacare regulations and penalties to each of the nation’s small business owners.

Regal Entertainment Group, the nation’s largest movie theater chain, announced it will reduce employee work hours to meet the company’s “health care budget to cover those newly deemed eligible [for Obamacare benefits] based on the law’s definition of a full-time employee.” Those employees that move from full-time to part-time status will see, on average, a 25% reduction in salary.

Last Tuesday, Max Baucus announced he will retire in an effort to avoid a re-election train wreck.

Meanwhile, Politico reports that congressional leaders met secretly to discuss crafting legislation that would exempt Congress from the looming train wreck known as Obamacare. Democratic Minority Whip Steny Hoyer admitted he entered into discussions with GOP Speaker John Boehner to ensure Obamacare regulations are “implemented in a way that’s workable for everyone, including [congressional] members and staff, Katie Grand, Hoyer’s communications director, told Politico.

Boehner spokesmen Michael Steel informed Politico that the “speaker’s objective is to spare the entire country from the ravages of the president’s health care law. He is approached daily by American citizens, including members of Congress and staff, who want to be freed from its mandates. If the speaker has the opportunity to save anyone from Obamacare, he will.”

In other words, Boehner intends to save America from the president’s dictatorial monstrosity … one Congressman and Capitol Hill staffer at a time.

If you are a Republican voter angry with the president for binding the people of a once free nation to the heavy chains of Obamacare, your ire is misplaced. Obama’s redistributive agenda owes its stunning success to the intellectual and political vacuum created by the GOP establishment’s gutless dullards.

Establishment “success” moved the post-Reagan Republican Party into the political wilderness – and irrelevance. Without a functioning opposition Republican Party, the sky’s the limit for Obama’s redistributive schemes and America’s eventual demise.

News reports say the departure of Sen. Baucus makes it likely Democrats will lose their slim majority in the Senate. So, I’ll scream the following all the way to the 2014 midterm elections: Tea Party and conservative Republican voters must (MUST!!!!!) throw out all long-serving incumbent establishment Republicans, Senate and House, in the primaries if a new congressional GOP majority is to have any meaning.

Back in 2008, Obama told Joe The Plumber that “spreading the wealth around is good for everybody.” The wealth-transferring effect of Obamacare will force many Americans into part-time employment, dramatically reduce their incomes, force them to pay high health insurance premiums and lower America’s standard of living to that of an impoverished banana republic.

Should Republicans fail to end Obamacare, the good news – if you can call it that – is its death panels will eventually put us out of our misery.
