Houston “Peaceful Activist” Who Organized March That Blocked Traffic and Intimidated/Assaulted Drivers Was NBPP Member
On Monday evening, a “Justice For Trayvon” march got out of hand when hundreds of demonstrators spilled out onto the street and blocked traffic for about 15 minutes.
That’s when Georgia, a grandmother on her way to a Texas Children’s Hospital with her daughter and 7-year-old granddaughter, was assaulted through an open window of her car.
Georgia’s daughter was driving and tried to go around the demonstrators by driving on the grassy shoulder.
“One of them was hitting the windshield and I was just screaming, ‘We’ve got to get to the hospital,’ and they were screaming and chanting,” she said. “All I could think of was, I got to get my granddaughter to the hospital.”
A Local 2 camera covering the protest recorded the entire incident. On the video you could see Georgia sitting in the front seat of an SUV, she had her window down and you can see a man reach in and grab her. Georgia said she was hit.
“When we got on the road I told her, ‘Let’s call 911,” and I could feel I had been hit,” she said.
The family is upset by the whole incident and thinks the demonstrators took things too far. Georgia filed a police report and hopes that things will quiet down.
“It wasn’t peaceful,” she said. “It was terrifying.”
Now, that’s the story, and here’s KPRC’s headline and byline: Local family’s emergency trip to hospital interrupted by demonstrators. The coordinator of the protest says he gave specific instructions to participants not to break any laws and not to touch or harm anyone.

For some reason, they neglected to mention in their report that peaceful “community activist”, Quanell X is a member of the New Black Panther Party. He joined that organization after being thrown out of the Nation of Islam for being too violent.
According to Wikipedia:
In September, 1990, Quanell Evans was inspired by a Louis Farrakhan speech at Sam Houston Coliseum and joined the Nation of Islam against his parents’ wishes. The newly dubbed Quanell X quickly became a spokesman in the organization.[3]
Quanell X was forced out of the Nation of Islam for publicly inciting violence with his televised, and highly publicized, exhortation to Houston-area blacks:
“[i]f you feel that you just got to mug somebody because of your hurt and your pain, go to River Oaks and mug you some good white folks. If you’re angry that our brother is put to death, don’t burn down your own community, give these white folks hell from the womb to the tomb.”[6]
After leaving the Nation of Islam, Quanell X joined a paramilitary group named “MFOI”, for “Mental Freedom Obtains Independence.” The new faction was not designed to attract significant exoteric membership.[7] After the MFOI removed Quanell, he joined the New Black Panther Party under the leadership of Khalid Abdul Muhammad and is now a local leader of the organization.[3]
When contacted, an employee at KPRC admitted they knew Quanell X was a member of the NBPP, and couldn’t say why it was not mentioned in the report — an unforgivable omission considering their byline.

Tensions in the already intense debate over convicted killer
Gary Graham’s scheduled execution escalated Friday as a
dozen armed black activists shoved a delegate outside the
state Republican convention in downtown Houston.
Kaufman County delegate A.J. McClure was pushed to the
ground by one of the rifle-wielding guards surrounding
Quanell X shortly after the Muslim leader began protesting
outside the George R. Brown Convention Center.
McClure, a disabled veteran, quickly rose to his feet and said
he was not hurt, but he was later taken by ambulance to an
area hospital as a precaution.
McClure reported the incident to the Houston Police
Department, but no charges had been filed late Friday and the
guard involved in the incident was not immediately identified.
The confrontation was the only tense moment involving
protesters Friday as state Republicans met to rally around
their candidates and set the party’s agenda.
Picketers from the Log Cabin Republicans, other gay rights
organizations, Americans United for Separation of Church and
State and individuals espousing various causes, quietly
walked up and down the sidewalks carrying signs.
Quanell X’s group comprising members of the New Black
Panther Party, the National Black United Front and the New
Black Muslim Movement arrived wearing all black, except
for Quanell X. Many carried shotguns, AK-47s and other
rifles.
“Community activist” really doesn’t even begin to describe this guy.
How about “black radical with troubling background belonging to various black militant groups including the Nation of Islam (which he was thrown out of for being too violent) and the NBPP”?
