There Is Nothing ‘Phony’ About The Deaths Linked
To Operation Fast And Furious
Family of Slain U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry Expresses Outrage over
President Obama’s “Phony Scandals” Remark

(FLAT ROCK, Mich.) The family of slain U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry is outraged over
President Obama’s recent remarks that his administration has been plagued by “phony scandals”.
The remarks were made by the President on Wednesday as part of an economic speech at Knox
College in Galesburg, Illinois. Earlier in the week, White House press secretary Jay Carney also
mentioned the issue of “phony scandals”. During the speech, the President went on to say that the
GOP’s focus on scandals “needs to stop”.

Brian Terry was on duty when he lost his life while defending the U.S. border from members of a
suspected drug cartel “rip-crew” in December of 2010 near Rio Rico, AZ. Weapons found at the
murder scene were traced to the failed gun trafficking investigation known as Operation Fast and
Furious conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and
Firearms. Dozens of people in Mexico have been killed or wounded by weapons linked to
Operation Fast and Furious, including a police chief in Mexico.

Josephine Terry, Brian’s mother, said, “These deaths are real. My son’s death was real. I am outraged
that President Obama is talking about phony scandals when he knows all too well that my son was a
victim of Operation Fast and Furious that was authorized by members of his Justice Department
and a U.S. Attorney that he appointed. Operation Fast and Furious was all too real for me and my
family, and it directly contributed to my son’s murder.”

The Terry family has been seeking answers from the Justice Department about Operation Fast and Furious and the circumstances surrounding Brian’s death for the last two years.
Mrs. Terry, still grief stricken over her son’s death and the failure of her government to provide her family with answers went on to say, “Mr. President, come to Michigan and I will show you my son’s grave…then let’s have a conversation about your definition of phony scandals.”

Ralph Terry, Brian’s uncle and President of the Brian Terry Foundation stated, “The entire Terry family has experienced a level of ‘trust deficit’ in their government and its leaders since Brian was killed. It hurts to be treated like this and just adds insult to injury when the President speaks of phony scandals and minimizes the efforts of those officials tasked to investigate these matters.”
Congressman Darrell Issa and the House Oversight and Government Reforms Committee have led a Congressional investigation into Operation Fast and Furious but claims of Executive Privilege have effectively put an end to that investigation.

The Brian Terry Foundation (www.HonorBrianTerry.com) was established to honor the memory of Brian Terry and create a living legacy in his name. The foundation raises funds for the families of fallen U.S. Border Patrol agents and establishes educational scholarships for men and women pursuing an education and career in law enforcement. The Foundation also raises awareness on border related security issues that affect the overall safety and welfare of U.S. Border Patrol Agents.

The Brian Terry Foundation www.honorbrianterry.com is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity that is raising funds for the families of fallen U.S. Border Patrol agents, to establishing educational scholarships, and raising public awareness of border security issues that affect the safety of U.S. Border Patrol Agents. The Terry family wants to make certain that mistakes made by ATF and DOJ during this investigation are never repeated.
