Battered White Syndrome

When black wannabe-gangster Trayvon Martin was killed in self-defense by “white Hispanic” George Zimmerman last year, the media and the Democrat Party turned the tragedy into an opportunity to claim “whitey” had declared “open season” on black people and intended to hunt them all down “like a rabid dog” (to quote some of our more entertaining “civil rights” leaders).  But when black people specifically target whites for racial purposes or murder each other by the truckload, the Jesse Jacksons, Al Sharptons, and Barack Obamas of our society are nowhere to be found.

These liberal activists and race baiters had to jump on the Zimmerman incident because the truth is that white-on-black crime is nearing non-existence in America today, and white people are in fact roughly eight times more likely to be victimized by blacks than the other way around.  Meanwhile, 93% of black people murdered are struck down by one of their own race.

The media does its best to hide all of these statistics because they represent an inconvenient truth contradicting the Democrat narrative that America is still a country of racial intolerance ruled by oppressive white people.  This is despite the facts that we have had a black president for the past five years, turned Oprah Winfrey into a multi-billion-dollar celebrity with women of all ethnicities hanging on her every word, and regularly feature black celebrities like Beyoncé on our “most beautiful people” lists.  Beyoncé, Oprah, and Obama themselves still claim they are victimized for their skin color and take every opportunity to instill that notion into the collective psyche of the American public.

So when a white Australian was shot dead within our borders by black teenagers who had posted Facebook and Twitter remarks about how they hated white people and wanted to kill them, liberals wanted to pretend that this particular murder was not newsworthy.  Jesse Jackson had to be reminded that he was supposed to be a reverend before he issued a statement that he ”frowned on” the killing, but don’t expect his Rainbow Coalition to be marching for Chris Lane anytime soon like they did for Trayvon Martin.  Nor should be expect outrage from Sharpton, Attorney General Eric Holder, or any of the rest of their agenda-driven friends.

Most despicable in his lack of leadership is, as usual, Barack Obama.  Our “post racial” president has been quick to insert himself into every racial issue of national attention since taking the White House—such as when he called the police who arrested Henry Louis Gates “stupid,” and of course the time he claimed he could have been Trayvon Martin—but when an innocent young white man is gunned down because of his race, Obama has nothing to say.

Notably, on a national and even global scale, the murder of Chris Lane is of far greater importance than the death of Trayvon Martin.  Previously-noted racial issues aside, Lane was an Australian college student murdered in cold blood in the United States by criminals who callously claimed “boredom” as a motive.  Australia is one of our closest international allies, and they are understandably upset by what happened.

Remember the national outrage when Natalee Holloway went missing in Aruba eight years ago?  If the situation were reversed and a citizen of the United States had been thoughtlessly murdered by Australian thugs, Americans would be horrified.  It would not matter to us if that American had been white, black, or green; our citizens would have taken it as a matter of national insult, and even more so if we were told he had been gunned down because his murderers were “bored” or because they just didn’t like the way he looked.  But what would have made it worse was if their country’s national leader shrugged it off as a “non-issue” and refused to condemn it.

Barack Obama had no problem injecting himself into the Gates or Martin stories and intentionally stirring up racial animosity, but on a matter of intentional importance when he was faced with a black-on-white crime, Obama has declined to sympathize with our nation’s allies for his own shallow political purposes.

How does sympathy for Lane run counter to Obama’s purposes?  Because acknowledging that black people sometimes target “whitey” runs counter to the liberal lie that only white people are supposed to be racists.  How could the Democrats claim—as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid did just earlier this month—that all criticism of Obama is racially motivated, if they also acknowledged that black people can still sometimes do bad things?  The entire lie of Barack Obama is built upon the idea that he can do no wrong and should not be criticized because he is black.

Getting back to Oprah, the director of her recent film The Butler claimed that America has become more racist since Barack Obama was elected and that our country is now showing its “true colors.”  He is partially correct.  America has become more racially divided since we elected Barack Obama because Obama and the Democrats have done everything they could since that election to divide Americans by race.  We elected Obama on the theory that he would heal our racial wounds, and instead he has intentionally reopened them.  Ironically, we were actually doing pretty well until he showed up.

Our politically correct culture has given white America a mentality akin to learned helplessness, like a battered wife defending her abusive husband’s behavior.  White people have become content to play the role of victim, suffer in silence, and convince ourselves that any harm that comes our way is our own fault.  We won’t even stand up for ourselves or cite black-on-white hate crimes where they exist because we are afraid that would cause people to think we are racists.  We refuse to even talk about the causes of the problem, such as the violence and disregard for humanity which runs rampant in hip hop music, and we instead let the media warp the issue for their own purposes and continue to cast blame in the wrong places.

Yes, there was certainly a time when white people were unfairly oppressing blacks, but that time is long past and most of the people responsible have been dead for decades or even centuries.  (They were also mostly Democrats, but that’s largely irrelevant to this particular point.)  We have now gone so far in the opposite direction that a still-majority white population has allowed themselves to suffer because of the sins of the father.  In this, we are all taking part in a tragic and senseless continuation of the cycle of violence.

We are also doing no favors to our black neighbors, whose culture is proceeding to cannibalize itself with violence, gang mentality, broken families, and the self-inflicted shortcomings brought on by low expectations and a tendency to blame imagined oppressors for their problems.

The answer to this injustice is not for white people to violently rise up again, but rather to realize that all Americans have a right—and even an obligation—to defend ourselves and meet this problem head-on.  We owe that to ourselves and to our future generations.  None of us alive today were the ones who started the problem, but we can take steps to fix it.

Barack Obama and the liberals have no intention of having a meaningful discussion on race, because these problems which harm everyone else empower the liberal elites.  When the destruction of the black family leads to more single mothers and children forced into welfare, Democrats gain power by controlling the purse strings.  When hip hop mogul and Obama-supporter Jay-Z inspires a gangland shooting with his music, that’s an opportunity for Democrats to call for more gun control.  And of course any high-profile racial clash is an opportunity for the Sharptons and the Jacksons to line their own pockets with blood money.

We are at a disadvantage while Barack Obama occupies the Oval Office and race baiters like Sharpton and Jackson are still given a national platform, but we also have hope in the rising publicity of conservative-minded minority figures like Allen West, Ben Carson, Herman Cain, and many others.  The salvation of black, white, and American culture depends on moral leadership and positive influences, and those are things which cannot be found in Democrat politicians or in the liberal media.

A resolution to this issue must eventually be reached, and the sooner the better.  Every wasted day brings us another Trayvon Martin lost to gang culture and another Chris Lane gunned down without cause.  As Americans, we have a duty to do our part and put a stop to this.
