Ed Henry: ‘Will You Admit That What The President Said Wasn’t True?’ Carney: Eh…

Via Fox News Insider, Fox’s White House reporter,  Ed Henry asked Jay Carney at Monday’s press briefing, “Will You Admit That What the President Said Isn’t True?”

Carney gave one of his  typical, weaselly, evasive answers: “What the president said and what everybody said all along is that there are going to be changes brought about by the Affordable Care Act to create minimum standards of coverage.”

Henry countered, “Not everyone’s going to keep their plan. They will admittedly end up probably with better insurance in the long run […] But the president sold it as ‘if you have a plan, you’ll get to keep it.’ And that’s not true.”

Carney, “Ed, I appreciate what you’re trying to do […] It’s correct that substandard plans that don’t provide minimum services […] those are no longer allowed.”

Carney appreciates what? That Ed Henry is trying to extract a truthful response from him just this one time? Is that too much to ask Jay? Just this one time, can you say something that isn’t complete bullsh*t?  No…obviously he can’t. He obfuscates as usual.

No, you clown. What the president (and his loyal minions) said “all along” was “if you like your plan, you can keep it, period,” OVER AND OVER AND OVER again ad nauseam.

In a blockbuster report on Monday, sources told NBC News that at least half to three quarters of those who buy individual insurance will have that insurance cancelled by their insurers over the next year thanks to changes mandated by Obamacare. A huge number of the people forced off their current insurance will have “sticker shock,” the sources said. What’s more, President Obama knew all that even as he campaigned on the promise that if you liked your insurance, you could keep it: “the administration knew that more than 40 to 67 percent of those in the individual market would not be able to keep their plans, even if they liked them.”

 Robert Laszewski of Health Policy and Strategy Associates has been a supporter of Obamacare, but stated, “This says that when they made the promise, they knew half the people in this market outright couldn’t keep what they had and then they wrote the rules so that others couldn’t make it either.” On Monday, White House spokesperson Jessica Santillo said that people might have to pay more for insurance, but that their insurance would be better: “One of the main goals of the law is to ensure that people have insurance they can rely on – that doesn’t discriminate or charge more based on pre-existing conditions.  The consumers who are getting notices are in plans that do not provide all these protections – but in the vast majority of cases, those same insurers will automatically shift their enrollees to a plan that provides new consumer protections and, for nearly half of individual market enrollees, discounts through premium tax credits.”

 White House press secretary Jay Carney confirmed that notion today, stating, “What the president said and what everybody said all along is that there are going to be changes brought about by the Affordable Care Act to create minimum standards of coverage, minimum services that every insurance plan has to provide. So it’s true that there are existing healthcare plans on the individual market that don’t meet those minimum standards and therefore do not qualify for the Affordable Care .
