Now Is The Time!

My friend Dr. G has a  US Representative in his state with whom he corresponds regularly via email.  What’s unusual is that she, personally, often answers his emails. Typically, many of us send notes to our Reps and Senators, but only by going to their official Congressional web site, and if we get a response, it’s written by some staffer, or is a “canned” reply covered in boilerplate.

I’m privileged that Dr. G copies me with his notes, but for obvious reasons keeps her replies private between them.  I found his latest one to deliver a very strong message that many of us less talented conservative writers would like to say but don’t, or can’t find the words to express in decent company. Indeed, now is the time!

Now Is The Time…..the American people are realizing how bad Obamacare is…..GO BACK to the Repeal Legislation.  Make the Senate, again, tomorrow, vote it down now while people are REALLY mad.   It’s such a disastrous law, it must be repealed and then start over.  No fix.  Cant be fixed.  You only needed a few Dems to vote in the Senate and you’d have won last time.  Now they’re scared that you’ll find support there.  Harry Reid isn’t going to hold his people in the face of the reality they’re now learning about, and the Dems running next time know it. 

Fixing Obamacare is like trying to fix a falling down house…it’s so intrusive, so complicated, so ineptly fashioned that it won’t work…..you’ll keep finding more rot and it’s not fixable.  The Website isn’t the issue…as Mr. Boehner knows, for sure.  Don’t talk about “maybe” it’s the law itself that’s “a problem.”  It’s an abomination that’s destroying our country.  The administration is inept.  Ask people if they actually think these Bozos SHOULD be in charge of their most intimate affairs…  The very idea that the only way to collect the penalty from those who defy the individual mandate is by withholding tax refunds….in a population where only half the people pay taxes at all….is ludicrous.  Only one example.  90 million out of the work force….how’s that going to be extracted from them?

AND in the next breath propose several alternatives….about a half dozen fixes to current laws will go 90% of the way to fixing our Healthcare system as it was….they need attention, to tax law, etc…you know what the drill is.  Offer a single bill for each “fix,” and send them as a package to the American People NOW.  Repeal is #1,…I’ll not detail all the suggestions, some are: personal ownership of insurance, change in tax favored employer plans, unlimited HSAs, cross state insurance plans, a plan for supervision of the products to be sure that people get what they choose and pay for, high risk pools for uninsured, and at the end, a mechanism for communal responsibility for those truly left out by circumstances beyond their control.   We don’t need Obamacare or restructuring of our way of life to fix our problems.

Now is the time.  Do not wait for another election.  Fight now.  You’ll win the next election if you’re on OUR side.  The disgust for “politics” that sweeps the electorate is being earned by the other side….show how different you are and you’ll win.  Don’t fear losing.  Fight. 

Frankly, if you don’t, millions of us will either pull out of the system as far as we can….barter, go underground….already happening in the mountains I live in….and stop participating in the political system until it’s brought down and replaced.  There’s actual talk, seriously, of a Constitutional Convention, and that’s just the beginning.

The degree of mixed anger, angst, hopelessness out here is greater than the Republican Party seems to understand.

Act now.  Get mad.
