TORY DISASTER in PARLIAMENTARY by-election: BEATEN AGAIN by UKIP for SECOND! EU LEADER ADMITS: We want a SUPEREMPIRE!

The by-election in Wythenshawe was as sure a thing for Labour as a recent Olympic USA men’s basketball game.  But the question was:  Who will take second place?  The Conservatives had the silver medal last time in 2010.

But no more:  UKIP, the true patriotic party for UK voters, soundly bested the Tories for second, and Nick Clegg led pro-EU Liberal Democrats renounced their deposit by getting less than 5%!

Here are the results from the Guardian:

Ukip pushed the Conservatives into third place, taking 4,301 votes.

Rev Daniel Critchlow, for the Tories, came third on 3,479 votes, and Liberal Democrats Mary Di Mauro, came fourth on 1,176.

UKIP Leader Nigel Farage had this to say about this election:

“When you start from a base of nothing and your level of public recognition is very low then to do what we have done in a very short space of time – delighted. Anything over 15% was what I was hoping for and had it been over 20%, it would have been a terrific result for us so 18%, I’m very pleased.”

I think UKIP might do better just running ads with quotes from EU leaders such as Viviane Reding, the so-called conservative from Luxembourg (if Reding’s a conservative, I’m a communist!) who came to the UK and begged for the truth to come out about the European Union!

The EU Justice Commissioner, Viviane Reding, says it is important for British voters to see accurate “facts and figures on the table” about the EU before May’s European elections.

“Very often I see a completely distorted truth being presented,” she told a public gathering in London, and urged more British debate about Europe.

She was speaking to voters at a “citizens’ dialogue” – part of an official EU information campaign.

Sounds like information all right.  Thing about it:  The EU is now in effect campaigning for pro-EU parties to win the 2014 European Parliament elections in May.  Try this Reding gem:

She said there was little awareness that “the most powerful parliament in Europe is the European Parliament – because it is co-decider with the member states on EU laws.

“Seventy per cent of the laws in this country are co-decided with the European Parliament.”

A pro-EU lobby group, British Influence, later said Ms Reding’s 70% figure was “simply not true”.

“A non-partisan, rigorously independent analysis of UK laws by the House of Commons Library found that between 8 and 14% of Britain’s laws are made in the EU,” said the group’s director Peter Wilding.

With that kind of (mis)information campaign is this -  SEVENTY PERCENT of all laws have to be approved by Brussels?  Or maybe it is only between 8 and 14%?  Either one is way too much for the sovereign nation that brought us due process, trial by jury and individual rights!

Another Reding gem that ought to be in all UKIP literature:

Let me see how this works:  You go to a nation and you insult the workers in that nation?  There’s more!

“We need to build a United States of Europe with the Commission as government and two chambers – the European Parliament and a “Senate” of Member States,” she said.

Mrs Reding’s vision, which is shared by many in the European institutions, would transform the EU into superstate relegating national governments and parliaments to a minor political role equivalent to that played by local councils in Britain.
