Join us for our May meeting, featuring local issues and candidates!

Tuesday, May 6, 2014

7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Garland Central Library (Downtown)

North Program Room

625 Austin St.

Garland, TX  75040

Former Speaker of the House, Tip O’Neill wrote a book titled All Politcs is Local.  That phrase became famous, and the concept is true.  What happens in Washingon, DC is impacted by what happens here locally. And what happens here locally, is impacted by how much we, the local citizens, are engaged and informed.  This month’s meeting is all about local issues and local elections, so this is your opportunity to become more informed and engaged.

John McDonald and Julie Borik will provide updates on the proposed new

Garland Development Code and other current City of Garland issues.

Barry Curtis, of the Curtis Report, on 660 AM, KSKY The Answer will be joining us.

We are very happy to have Barry serving as our moderator for the

meet the candidates segment of our meeting.

All Garland ISD candidates have been invited to attend, and most are confirmed.  Both candidates for City Council District 5 have also been invited.

This meeting will educate us regarding some of the critical issues facing the City of Garland.  And hearing from the candidates will help us make informed decisions in the voting booth on May 10.  Don’t miss it!

“It doesn’t require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people’s minds.”  Samuel Adams
