Gov. Nixon dithers, delays, and defers to Obama on Syrian refugees

At the federal level House Speaker Paul Ryan has called for a “pause” to the admittance of Syrian refugees into the United States while over in the U.S. Senate Senator Ted Cruz, (R) of Texas is introducing a bill barring Syrian refugees.

Here in Missouri 18 State Senators have called on Governor Jay Nixon to follow almost half of America’s governors and refuse Syrian refugees. Additionally several state representatives are sending letters requesting the same of our governor. Republican gubernatorial candidates agree that Syrian resettlement in Missouri should be denied.

Thus far seven of Missouri’s eight contiguous Border States have told the Obama Administration NO to Syrian Refugees with Governor-elect Bevin of Kentucky assuring his citizens that he will act when inaugurated in less than a month. Meanwhile Missouri’s Governor dithers and delays telling us he will defer to President Obama’s Departments of State and Homeland Security.

Governor Nixon’s inaction on this subject is unacceptable. He needs to hear from you. You can submit comments on his official website here. Contact Congress

While we normally focus on the Missouri Legislature the issue of immigration is one that ultimately falls to the federal government. We know where the Obama Administration stands. After all this is a result of his failure of leadership and ineffective foreign policy. Congress needs to stand and fight in order to prevent Obama from following through with his vision.

Contact Congress now to encourage them to support Speaker Paul Ryan’s “pause” and Senator Ted Cruz’ bill barring Syrian refugees.
