You have to understand. The liberal media usually lets Obama get away with BS-ing the country with soothing lies, and when it comes to the war on terror – they really want to believe the lies.

Oops. Excuse me. I mean the overseas contingency operation to combat violent extremism.

• “al Qaeda is decimated,” “on the run.”

• “The Global War on Terror is over.”

• “ISIS is JV.”

• “The world is less violent than it has ever been.”

• “We will degrade and destroy ISIS.”

• Yemin is an example of a “successful counter-terrorism strategy.”

• “ISIS is contained.”

Unfortunately real world events keep interfering with his delusional happy talk. Usually not quite this soon.

Obama’s deputy national security adviser strategic communication Ben  Rhodes (of “Benghazi talking points” fame) tried to strategically communicate what Obama meant by “ISIS is contained” to one of the straightest shooters in the news business – CNN’s Jake Tapper.

(By “strategic communication,” they mean “spin” or “lie” or “propaganda.” And no – not spin and lies for our enemies’ consumption. For our – the American people’s consumption.)

“If this is what ISIS looks like contained, I shudder to think what ISIS looks like uncontained,” said Tapper.

Rhodes told Tapper that President Obama had been making “a very specific point” about losses in territory and leadership IS has suffered due to U.S. airstrikes and ground operations by coalition partners.

“What we’ve been able to do is stop that advance and reclaim territory, going on the offense with our partners on the ground,” Rhodes said. “We have to be one step ahead of ISIL every time, if we can.”

“One step ahead, we don’t seem to be one step ahead of any terrorist group these days,” Tapper said.

“Going on the offense” and staying “one step ahead” my ass. He’s been allowing the US Air Force to go on a few bombing runs (75% of which return without firing a shot.) Not enough to make any difference – but enough to look like he’s doing something.

Barack Obama does not wish to defend this country,” Senator Ted Cruz said on “Fox and Friends” Sunday morning. “He may have been tired of war, but our enemies are not tired of killing us. And they’re getting stronger.”

France finally on Sunday bombed ISIS’ headquarters in Raqqa, Syria.

We’ve been supposedly leading a 60 nation coalition against ISIS for over a year, and it never occurred to anyone in the Obama administration to bomb the Islamic State’s stronghold?

Michael Goodwin of the New York Post has had it: It’s time for Obama to make a choice: Lead us or resign.

He shuns the mantle of global leadership that comes with the Oval Office, with an aide advancing the preposterous concept that Obama is “leading from behind.” He snubs important partners like Egypt, showers concessions on the apocalyptic mullahs of Iran, and called the Islamic State the “jayvee team” even as it was beginning to create a caliphate.

Having long ago identified American power as a problem, he continues to slash the military as the enemy expands its reach. In a globalized era, the Obama doctrine smacks of cowardly retreat and fanciful isolation.

In an accident of timing that captures his cluelessness, the president actually declared on Friday morning that Islamic State had been “contained,” practically boasting in a TV interview that, “They have not gained ground in Iraq and in Syria.”

What gall. What folly.

Paris is the final straw. Obama’s exemption from reality has expired. He must either commit to leading the free world to victory, or step aside so someone else can.
