Schumer’s Anti-gun Rant Reveals Much More About the Next Senate Minority Leader

In the grand scheme of things, New York Democrat Senator Charles Schumer’s excessive anti-gun rant at his news conference on Monday means nothing at all. But as a peek into his ideology, background, and networks, it reveals a great deal about the man next in line to replace Harry Reid as the Senate Minority Leader in next year’s Congress.

Schumer qualifies for four pages at DiscoverTheNetworks.com (DTN), a virtual compendium of the left. According to David Horowitz, the founder and leading light of the site, DTN is simply “a database of profiles of individuals, groups, and institutions … culled from public records readily available on the Internet in the books and other sources whose veracity and authenticity are easily checked.”

Readily available and easily checked, it is rarely used by the kept mainstream media whose job often is to hide, obfuscate, and ignore damning evidence concerning popular political icons like Schumer.

Many know the man’s position on the Second Amendment, part of the Constitution he has taken an oath (many times) to support and defend: to him, it doesn’t exist. Working closely with anti-gun Democrat Senator from California Dianne Feinstein, they labored successfully to pass the Assault Weapons Ban in 1994. He also labored into the night to pass the equally offensive Brady Bill. When the Assault Weapons Ban expired in 2004, Schumer labored mightily to extend the ban.

Following the massive illegal confiscation of weapons by police following Katrina, a bill was passed preventing such acts from occurring in the future. It was called the Vitter Amendment and it passed the Senate 84-16. Schumer was one of the 16.

This has earned him a deserved place of scorn in the halls of the NRA, along with a Freedom Index Rating of 13 (out of 100), a treasonous voting record.

What is not known is what DTN brings to light: his tight ideological and financial connections with enemies of the United States. In 1998 when Rep. Schumer ran for the Senate for the first time, he had the support, according to DTN, of a left-wing outfit called the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism (CCDS), a spinoff from the Communist Party USA that took place following the collapse of the Soviet Union. A third of the members of the CPUSA thought the party was getting too soft in its attempts to undermine the United States, and started their own group. It is now the third largest among Marxist organizations in the United States in terms of its size and influence. That group, which helped fund Schumer and boost him into the Senate, maintains “a close working relationship with Stalinist remnants in the former East Germany, now called the Party of Democratic Socialism.”

CCDS seeks to dismantle what remains of the private capitalist system in the United States and replace it with out-and-out socialism (government ownership of all the major means of production in the economy), while viewing the United States as one of the two chief sources of evil on earth. The other? Israel. Which is especially ironic as Schumer himself is a Jew.

With all that as background, Schumer’s rant fits perfectly into place. Someone discovered a pocket pistol from Ideal Conceal, a startup company from Minnesota, that looked like an Apple iPhone when it is folded up. When unfolded it is a derringer, containing two rounds of .380 caliber bullets. To Schumer it represented the end of civilization:

This iPhone gun is a disaster waiting to happen. When placed in a person’s pocket, the handgun looks almost identical to an iPhone case and, because it’s essentially hidden, the handgun poses a serious threat if law enforcement is not able to tell whether a criminal is pulling out a gun or a phone….

It’s clearly being marketed for nefarious purposes – 4,000 people are ready to pull the trigger on this dangerous weapon.

That’s right. It isn’t even on the market yet, but Schumer wants it investigated and prevented from being sold.

The founder of Ideal Conceal, and inventor of the iPhone/pistol, Kirk Kjellberg, said Schumer’s complaints were just plain silly: “The idea that this is going to cause some new big threat is just not true.” His company’s website explains:

The idea for Ideal Concept follows the present-day demand for handguns that people can carry on a day-to-day basis, in a manner that makes carrying a gun easy to do. From soccer moms to professionals of every type, this gun allows you the option of not being a victim.

Most major gun makers are responding to the increasing demand for small, light, convenient sidearms that are easily concealed. Take, for example, Glock’s Model 42, released in 2014. It’s less than six inches long, less than an inch wide, and barely four inches in height. Loaded with six .380 caliber rounds, it weighs a little over a pound. And it costs little more than Kejllberg’s.

Even Schumer’s complaint that such a firearm could pose “a serious threat” to police fails scrutiny. If it’s concealed, how will anyone know? Answer: only when an individual makes a move that law enforcement considers threatening. This author asked Jere Joiner, a retired cop from Shreveport, what to make of Schumer’s claim. Said Joiner:

Police are trained to mistrust anything in a person’s hand: it could be a rock, a cellphone, a small handgun, or whatever. Depending on the circumstances the first police command might be “DROP IT!” or “PUT YOUR HANDS UP WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!” So, in that sense of the word, it wouldn’t matter what a person was holding.

Schumer is simply acting out, in typical liberal knee-jerk fashion, his distaste for anything that might keep Americans from resisting the communist takeover of the country. The fact that he is being groomed to take over as Senate Minority Leader (or Majority Leader if the Democrats retake the body in November) from Senator Harry Reid, is worth noting.
