A BLOG Endorsement: Jackee Gonzalez for Congress in the Fourth!

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

I just got off the phone with a wonderful candidate for Congress – Jackee Gonzalez – who is running in the new Fourth District in the GOP primary between her and Henrico Sheriff Mike Wade (who briefly was running against Cong. Dave Brat!) and let me tell you – I discussed it with Tom White and we are sure:

The Virginia Right Blog endorses Jackee Gonzalez in the GOP primary for the Fourth District on June 14!

Why?

Jackee could be the next Mia Love.  The Fourth has been seen as a likely Dem pick up but this candidate could speak to many groups that might ignore a white male.  I told Jackee that I would be glad to help her with the general election campaign.  I was also influenced by the endorsement by Del. Nick Freitas – a hero of mine.  That is how I found her.

Why is Jackee running?  She brings that immigrant’s idealism to politics (Gonzalez was born in Kenya) about the greatness of our nation and its Founders.  Jackee always wanted to do something to make things better even in Kenya and was fortunate (Jackee and I would both say blessed!) enough to be able to come to the US!  I asked her:  Why did you run?  She thinks that through the power of ordinary citizens, the Founders’ vision can come to pass – so  through prayer, wisdom and encouragement she decided to run for Congress.

Jackee has excellent positions on the issues.  I heard her talk on the John Fredericks Show and she answered the TPP question with – no it will hurt our sovereignty – sovereignty of the US is everything.  Here is the section from the show.  I was impressed.

Try some of these issues:

PARENTAL AUTHORITY, AND EDUCATIONAL CHOICE

We must provide the best educational opportunity for each child. I believe parents are best suited to determine what type of education their children should receive, whether it’s private, public, or homeschooling. I do not support Common Core. The responsibility for student achievement is best handled by the states and individual school districts, not the federal government. States and localities should define student academic standards and assessments.

OUR 2ND AMENDMENT

I will fight to protect our constitutional right to bear arms. The 2nd Amendment specifically identifies the right of an individual to “keep and bear arms,” which protects our natural right of self-defense. While I do support the ability of background checks to keep firearms out of the hands of dangerous criminals and those suffering from mental health problems, I will oppose efforts by the federal government to limit the ability of law-abiding citizens to purchase guns.

I will have to talk with Jackee about the background check issue (The issue for me is who does the check?) but she is right on the general issue of guns.

She was until May 15 the Outreach and Prayer Coordinator for the Virginia Family Foundation.  Jackee is running full time for the seat once held by Randy Forbes.  She is active in her church (Harvest Renewal Church not too far from the VCU campus) and has some mastery of five different languages:  German, English, Spanish, Swahili, and her native tongue Kikuyu (I hope I got it right!  It might be that Jackee is the first to be elected to Congress who could speak Kikuyu!)

Jackee was born in Kenya and is a legal immigrant to the US – she is married to Manuel Gonzalez and they have two girls.  (Here is a photo and bio)  One of her political heroes is Cong. Dave Brat!  (Brat is my hero too – but you might not know that from this blog!)  Gonzalez is eager to find ways to stand alongside Cong. Brat in the House.  Jackee is concerned that our children and grandchildren will be saddled with debt and enslaved by oppressive government.

Speaking of Cong. Brat – The Virginia Right blog was the first blog to suggest Brat could win and thus we are proud and honored to endorse in the Fourth – Jackee Gonzalez!  (To help her, go to this website.  This is her FB page.  If you live in the Fourth or can help at the polls – Jackee could use your help.)  If Jackee can win the nomination, it’s a game changer for Virginia and national politics.
