Holy Chariots of Fire! Great Britain is Still Second in the Medal Count!

It’s enough to make you run Chariots of Fire highlights over and over again.  Holy Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams!  (Think if there’s a large screen TV in heaven they will be sitting rooting for Team GB?)  Time to fire up Jerusalem again!

For Great Britain is in second place in the medal count (The UK has 22 golds and China has 20 but China does have 58 total medals to 56 for UK as of this AM.)

The Sun (watch out for page 3!) reported that the UK did not win a medal Wednesday but made up for it yesterday:

I am more excited about this development than the US coming in first (and they are crushing the field in many (but not all:  see Badminton) sports!

The Express reports that GB might get as many as 79 total medals!

Medal targets

UK Sport have set the Team GB chef de mission Mark England a target of 48 Olympic medals from Rio 2016.

After a sensational first week, the team have now surpassed that target and have their sights set on the London 2012 figure of 65.

And the funding body believe that as many as 79 medals could be won by British athletes.

BTW, the USA has 100 medals.  I might not even get to Miracle these Games!  Go USA and UK and all nations who have never won a medal!
