Yes Clinton Is for Draft Registration for Our Daughters! (So Is Lindsey Graham!)

I do not cite InfoWars often but they are right about this issue even if the memes (had to ask my kids:  “What’s a meme?”) are misleading – no one has proposed seriously a draft for men or women.  But Secretary Clinton (and Sen. Lindsey Graham, too) have called for registration of young women for a potential draft.

Hillary Clinton’s support for a female draft is sparking outrage as she continues to fuel war tensions with Russia.

Clinton initially backed requiring women to register for the draft back in June, but the backlash really exploded as Clinton started taunting Russia after the last presidential debate….Here is the article.

Political satire has a long history to make serious points and there are few more serious than the potential to draft women.  I have two teenage daughters and I’d (peacefully and lawfully of course) hit the streets if they subject women to the draft.  We dads protect our daughters (I thought about entering one of those AR-15 contests just for the wonderful prop to show the boys who come to my house!) and moms should too.

InfoWars cited this NYTimes article from June and it cites a now broken link but this related article has these two pithy quotes:

On Secretary Clinton:

Hillary Clinton said she backs legislation requiring women to register for the draft, moments before the Senate voted in favor of the measure.

“I do support that,” Clinton told The Huffington Post on Wednesday.

And Sen. Lindsey Graham (with a revealing comment from Sen. Claire McCaskill):

“I support it,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who served in the Air Force for years, told HuffPost last month. “I don’t think you want to take half your population off the sidelines in case of a national emergency.”

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) added that “it’s just a matter of time” until women are treated equally in the military.

Can 2020 come fast enough for the people of South Carolina?  It is barbaric for a civilized nation to even consider subjecting women to a military draft (and not much better for men to be subjected to it) and people should not stand for it.  The Supreme Court has already held that a male-only draft registration scheme is not discrimination against men.

Meantime, back in 2016, if you have a daughter – think about taking her down to the post office to register for the military draft and that Secretary Clinton supports that.  Think about that when you vote November 8.

Frankly, I’m against conscription/draft registration period. But if men are required to register, women should be too.

If women want equal rights—which I personally do; we can’t have our cake and eat it too, and have to take the sour with the sweet just like men do.

I completely agree, Morgana, but probably not in the way you’d imagine.

It’s about time men were granted equal rights to those of the fairer sex.

Sexist bias in favour of women needs to be addressed if egalitarianism is to be effective.

This is a reason to change my vote for her.
Equal rights should come with equal responsibility. With no loopholes, being knocked up or having kids should NOT be an excuse. It isn’t an excuse for men.

Ship them off to war like the men, make them live hard lives like the men, and make them do the hard labor like the men.

And while we are at it, meter maids should be wearing their hair short like male cops are required to, and need to get rid of the makeup and jewelry.

And the dudes on the road crews should be getting a crack at holding the traffic flag now and then, let the chick work the shovel her fair share of the time too.

You’ve come a long way, baby.
