Michigan Recounts Comes To Screeching Halt Amid Objections!

(Before It's News)

In reference to the petition filed by Jill Stein for a recount, the Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, made the following statement on November 30:

It is unusual that a candidate who received just 1 percent of the vote is seeking a recount, especially when there is no evidence of hacking or fraud, or even a credible allegation of any tampering. The cost of this recount to Michigan taxpayers could easily reach into the millions of dollars. Based on Wisconsin’s estimate, Michigan taxpayers could be paying $4 million despite the $1 million the Green Party nominee must pay to have the recount.

She went on to state that she had the greatest faith in her county clerks.

The Michigan Secretary of State issued another media release on December 1, 2016.  She announced that the Michigan Bureau of Elections received an objection from President-Elect Trump and his campaign. Ruth Johnson went on to explain the procedures for concerning the objection in Michigan. The recount is halted if the Board of Canvassers receives a timely objection. The board then has five days to resolve the complaint. If the objection is not adopted, the recount continues. If the board adopts the objection, the recount will stop.

The petition filed by President-Elect Trump highlights several key reasons for the objection. Michigan requires that the petitioner must be claiming fraud or mistake.  President-Elect Trump and his campaign, suggest that Jill Stein is not claiming fraud or mistake in her petition. They asserted that this alone, should cease the recounts. Their second argument objection is that there simply is not enough time before the deadline to count the votes by hand.  Finally, they state that Jill Stein did not properly sign the petition. They make the argument that her notary did not properly notarize the petition. It seems like President-Elect Trump has put a monkey wrench in her plans!

I find the waste of taxpayer dollars for this recount, appalling. Perhaps this will put the recount debate to bed!
