Pocket-Sized Protection for Everyday Carry

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Dear Black Bag Confidential Reader,

This week’s batch of must-read articles covers ways to protect yourself from privacy snatchers, unforeseen natural disasters, poor planning and more.

Let’s dive in.

1. How a Credit Card Can Save Your Life

Well, not a credit card per se, but something the size of a credit card…

Every day, the world is only getting more dangerous, so I’ve put together an exclusive bundle that includes four of the most essential EDC (everyday carry) tools — all of which fit discreetly in your wallet so they’re within reach at a moment’s notice.

Right now — for a limited time only — you can get your hands on this lifesaving bundle for over 50% off the retail price. Click on the link above to get powerful, pocket-sized protection shipped straight to your door.

2. Are You Making These Three Food Storage Mistakes?

Even if you’ve taken my advice and stocked up on emergency food supplies, are you regularly rotating them? Do you have a meal plan for using your food stores efficiently and making them last? Have you properly stored the most important element of survival?

Concerning that last point, it is critical that you also have a one-week supply of water for each person in your household — that’s one gallon per person per day.

The easiest and most convenient way to store emergency water is with the WaterBricks water storage system. These stackable containers hold 3.5 gallons of water each, which also makes them incredibly easy to transport. In fact, I’ve got a bunch them in my basement right now. Click here to order some for your family today.

3. How Cops Could Get Your Data Without Unlocking Your Phone

Although I certainly don’t plan on breaking the law, this is just one of the many reasons why I don’t have a smartphone. However, these days I know most people do. If you’re an iPhone or an Android user — and especially if you enable the biometric security features — you should know about the 48-hour window.

Check out the article above, which runs down the ways in which law enforcement can circumvent your privacy without a warrant — starting with the two-day time frame.

Ultimately, the best way to protect yourself is by using a “dumb” phone like I do. But if you can’t part with your pocket technology, I recommend setting your phone up so that it only unlocks using the passcode. The FBI still needs a warrant for that — at least for now.

4. Prepping for Seniors: First Aid and Safety Tips You Need to Know

I know a lot of my readers are older, and with age there come some extra considerations in regard to prepping. This piece runs down seven survival tips for seniors that will help you stay safe and sound when the SHTF.

One of the more noteworthy suggestions addresses the issue of self-defense for people who may not be as strong or mobile as they once were.

To that end, I recommend checking out this powerful self-defense maneuver. It’s three quick moves that do not require a ton of strength but will drop your attacker almost instantly. They’re so easy anyone can do them. And they’re so utterly devastating that they can fell an attacker of any size. Click here to see for yourself.

5. More Than 340 Dead in Powerful Quake Near Iran-Iraq Border

As West Coast residents know all too well, major earthquakes like the one that occurred on the Iran-Iraq border on Sunday can also happen here in the U.S. In fact, the most recent quake of a similar magnitude shook southeastern Alaska on Jan. 5, 2013 — registering a 7.5 on the Richter scale.

Like any other disaster, there are a few simple things you can (and should) do to prepare for an unexpected seismic event: Secure items in your home that may fall or break… store emergency supplies… create an emergency plan for your family… and practice that plan so everyone knows what to do when the time comes.

Unlike some natural disasters, earthquakes happen with little to no warning, so doing what you can ahead of time is critical.

Stay safe,

Jason Hanson
