Transitioning Out Transgender

Under the Obama Administration, people who identify as transgender were able to enter the military which severely damaged the safety of their fellow soldiers as well as the nation. While they were receiving sex reassignment surgeries on the taxpayer’s dime, they were unable to be deployed. After recovery, necessary hormone therapy medicines needed to be with them at all times, some requiring refrigeration. People with diabetes were even deemed unfit to serve, so why were transgenders treated differently? Obviously, the Obama Administration had an agenda to carry out their social experiments in the military. By the end of Obama’s Presidency, an estimated 4,000 to 10,000 active-duty and reserve service members were believed to be transgender.
 
Recently, Defense Secretary James Mattis made recommendations on this matter to President Trump. The Department of Defense issued a report based on the 2016 Rand Study that pushed for transgenders in the military. Secretary Mattis’s decision highlighted the shortcomings of this study. He recommended disqualifying those who have received or plan to receive sex reassignment surgery. A person is allowed to identify as transgender but must remain in their biological sex. Unfortunately, those who entered under the Obama Administration have received an exception to continue serving. President Trump issued a memorandum giving Secretary Mattis the authority to implement these policies, further solidifying this decision.
 
After hearing that Secretary Mattis may go another direction, this is good news. However, there is much more to be done. Policies with regard to transgender military readiness such as no taxpayer funding for sex reassignment surgeries and keeping women out of the draft must be made into law through Congress. Our government agencies should be more aware of the staff they hire, lest we allow atheist Chaplains to serve or leftist ideologies to be implemented into policy changes that destroy our military readiness. The military must also enforce policies that allow military personnel to feel safe in their private quarters and in showers.

White House Internships

The application for the Fall 2018 White House Internship Program is now open. Our friend and Eagle Council 46 panelist, Paul Teller, extended the invitation to us and asked that we consider sharing with any potential candidate interns whom we may know. The Fall 2018 White House Internship Program Term will run from September 5, 2018 to December 7, 2018.  All application materials, including letters of recommendation, must be submitted on or before Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT).
