We don’t need your civil war

Time was, whenever someone noted the Democrats’ anti-gun rhetoric began listing too far toward fascism, they’d scoff that they were being paranoid. “No one is coming for your guns,” they’d laugh, although not as loudly as when their Messiah Obama mocked gun owners as violent, backwards, religious fanatics. That was then, this is now.

As we’ve learned in the days since the Left turned a terrorist attack that took the lives of 17 people at Marjory Stoneman High School in Parkland, Florida, into an attempt to normalize blatantly defamatory rhetoric about the NRA, AR-15 owners and civil liberties in general, they’re coming for your guns, my friends… and they’re through being coy about it.

YouTube is burying channels related to firearms and civil rights. (Author’s note: even Personal Liberty Digest’s channel, which is literally devoted to nothing but civil liberties, has been put on “restriction.”) CNN is encouraging anti-liberty hate speech from the Parkland survivors like David Hogg, who have turned tragedy into their golden ticket, while blacklisting survivors like Kyle Kashuv. While his classmates have turned the Parkland atrocity into a chance to mug for selfies with Hollywood airheads and blame the NRA for everything except the Salisbury steak in the school cafeteria, Kashuv has spent the intervening weeks eschewing Ellen for sit-down meetings with political leaders — of both parties — who might help address America’s problems with mental health treatment and institutional incompetence. This weekend, hate groups like (Not even close to) Everytown and (Nowhere near all) Moms Demand are staging a nationwide rally to push the idea that guns, gun owners and gun rights organizations are a bigger threat than the kind of authoritarian government that would put a smile on Stalin’s mug.

Silencing opposition has been the first play in the book for fascists since before Hitler was still just a weird artist from Austria. And it isn’t like they’ve hidden the rest of their textbook-Alinskyite plan. They’ve already established blaming the NRA as a given; same as the characterization of the AR-15 as a “weapon of war” designed solely “to kill people.” Although most, if not all, know less about guns — and liberty — than I do about soy lattes, they have proclaimed that the best way to prevent murder is by disarming the people who not only didn’t murder anyone, but would be a lot handier against a murderer than a fascist with a soy latte.

Leave it to the same people who tried to sneak Hillary Clinton into the Oval Office to design a grand plan to make the United States into as big a party as the Soviet Union. It will ultimately work out about as well as the Soviet Union did. They’re gonna fail, kids. There is literally no way outside Michael Moore’s imagination that a bunch of shrieking beta males and third wave feminists can successfully disarm America.

Putting aside the fact that a fairly sizeable portion of the civilian population is well-enough armed to make life a little prickly for the goon squads deployed to disarm them, who the hell will constitute the gun-grabbing goon squads?

Of the millions of law enforcement officers in the United States, a healthy number are either gun owners — irrespective of their profession — or are friends with people who are. Have fun ordering the cops in every “red” state, county and city in the country to round up their neighbors and families at gunpoint. Most will refuse on principle. Of the rest, I doubt even ones like Broward County Sheriff Scott “I blame the NRA” Israel would risk suicide to disarm their cousins.

That leaves the military. Granted, the violation of posse comitatus is unlikely to give pause to the people openly calling for the deletion of our civil liberties. But the men and women who risk the ultimate sacrifice in defense of liberty on a nearly daily basis probably won’t cotton to the idea of threatening the liberty of their friends and families — not to mention quite a few of themselves. And those who do will find themselves facing the most awesome array of power in human history, not to mention a well-armed civilian populace who will proudly back up the good guys in a pinch.

I’d like to say something kicky, like “bring it, you jackbooted thugs.” But if the Democrats want to start a civil war which would doubtless kill millions just to punish the wrong people for the death of 17, I have no interest in encouraging them. As their increasingly unhinged rhetoric has demonstrated, they don’t need the help. Besides, they’ll lose.
