Make More Money

OK, OK.

I may have been having a little fun there.

But the way some folks act, you’d think that this was some big secret!

It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for extra funds to invest… or if you need some cash to get you through some lean times…

The single best way to improve your financial situation is always going to be make more money.

True, folks with lots of money are just as prone to financial trouble as the rest of us. But nobody’s financial situation was ever made worse by more money.

But that raises the ultimate question…

If regular folks like you and me are already working our butts off just to get by… how can you simply “make more money”?

For some, it’s as easy as finding room for growth at your current job. You could always take on more responsibilities and leverage that to negotiate for higher pay.

But not everyone has that option. Which means you’re going to have to look outside your job to generate extra cash.

Believe or not, my old man, who spent his entire life in law enforcement, used to deliver flowers in his free time. And he loved it.

The old bull had something of a green thumb and loved flowers in general. But he was never happier than when he was sitting in the car on a delivery — listening to sports on the radio.

For him, it was his perfect side gig. And every year he’d pay for our entire family vacation using his “flower money.”

Now, I’m not suggesting that you go out and start delivering flowers.

But today there are certain lucrative side gigs that you can pick up in your free time, work as many hours as you want, and bank a few hundred extra dollars a month doing something you enjoy.

It’s all part of the booming “side-gig economy” that’s directly tied to the explosive growth of the smartphone.

To take advantage of most of these flexible side gigs, you will need a smartphone. But don’t worry. These aren’t techie jobs.

1. Uber

Let’s start with the granddaddy of the side gigs.

If you have a car, you make money driving folks around your hometown. If you don’t own a car, you can rent one directly from Uber. But this will cut into your profits.

You’ll earn up to $19 an hour (or more in some states), plus tips. You set your own hours and availability. To qualify, you must pass a background check and have a clean driving record. Find out more.

2. Handy

The online service Handy is a great way to earn some extra cash doing handyman work or cleaning. Depending on the task, you can earn anywhere up to $45 an hour.

3. Amazon Flex

Amazon is a titan of e-commerce and logistics. But they’re growing so fast that they can’t keep up with all the deliveries (608 million a day). Which is why they started Amazon Flex.

Amazon Flex enrolls the help of regular folks to deliver their extra packages. Depending on the state, this side gig pays $18–25 an hour.
