Talk Show Host Steve Kane Never Far from the Action as Bank Robbed

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Never far from the center of action was local radio talk show host Steve Kane as a masked gunman held up a busy Cooper City Bank of America branch shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

The gun-wielding robber walked into the branch located at 5504 South Flamingo Road and demanded money from a bank employee after jumping the counter.

No shots were fired and no one was hurt in the robbery, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The FBI declined to disclose how much money was stolen from the Bank of America branch.

The gunman – identified by customers as an African-American male – left the bank in a light blue Toyota Camry with a Florida license plate of S369YU.  According to the FBI, the Camry had been reported stolen on Wednesday.

A dye pack exploded inside the car, which would have stained the money, the car’s interior and, possibly, the robber’s skin and clothes, officials reported.

“It was a very scary experience,” said Steve Kane, host of The Steve Kane Show on AM 1470 WWNN.  “With $1,700.00 cash in hand and wearing an NYPD police hat, I thought better than to get involved.”

If anyone has information on the identity of this bank robber, they are urged to contact the FBI at 305-944-9101 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.  Remember, you can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.
