Bill and Karyn Frist Finalize Divorce, But Who Gets the Cow Head?

Politician divorces can get complicated, especially when they’re millionaires. Sometimes, the division of assets can be downright strange, for those of us who have minimal understanding of luxury trinkets and antiques.

Details of the Frist divorce are now public. The divorce settlement between Bill and Karyn Frist is reportedly 30 pages long and includes fine detail on how the couple plans to divide the assets, reports The Washington Post.

The former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and his wife Karyn have finalized their divorce in a Tennessee court last week, writes The Nashville Scene.

The Post gives us a summary of how the assets were divided. Here’s a quick look:

Karyn’s not getting any alimony in this case, although she does walk away with a lump sum of $2,094,086. She also gets to keep several investment accounts. At least Bill’s not on the hook for monthly payments. This one looks like a win-win.

But the same can’t be said for the $8 million family home. The family mansion in Nashville is owned by three trusts naming the kids as beneficiaries, reports The Post. Karyn is allowed to stay in the home but her ex-husband gets first refusal on the home if she ever decides to cease living in it. She also gets several random items in the home, including a Biedermeir desk, some statues, two frog fountains, and a porcelain cow’s head.

Of course, Frist doesn’t lose out on his end of the deal. He walks away with a Nissan car charger. He also gets to keep his Nissan. But Karyn walks away with the Audi and the Chevy Tahoe.

At least Bill gets to keep the two vacation homes, although he must let Karyn use the home for 25 percent of the summer months. But wait — he doesn’t get the entire house. Karyn gets to keep the bathroom door, writes The Post.

It must be a really cool door.
