Golden Nugget, Atlantic City, New Jersey

We spent two nights at the Golden Nugget, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Our room was large, and well furnished.
The hotel had reportedly just undergone a $150 million refurbishment of the guest rooms. Unfortunately the hotel owners hadn’t spent any of that money on insulation or soundproofing.
We could hear everything going on in the room next to ours; a couple shagging. Thankfully it only lasted for about one minute, unlike the conversation they had about their relationship which lasted for hours, and hours, and hours……….. Even earplugs didn’t help shut out the noise.
It wasn’t just the noise that disturbed us, when the bed next door shook, so did ours, and not just from the brief shag. When new guests arrived on the second night of our stay, two women who didn’t shag, we felt the wall shake every time they used the bed, or switched on one of the wall lights. Very bad.

We could see that everything in our room was new, but it won’t stay that way for much longer as the cleaners do a halfhearted job at best.
There were marks and dust everywhere. And it’s obviously okay going to get worse. When I opened one of the drawers in the bedside unit there were lots of crumbs and hundreds and thousands in it.
The bathroom was also showing signs of neglect. The cleaners did ‘clean’ it each day, but not properly. There were pee stains on the base of the loo when we checked-in and various other signs of dirt throughout the bathroom.

We did enjoy our stay at the Golden Nugget, in Atlantic City, New Jersey despite the negatives. We enjoyed the buffet because we were keen to boost our vitamin level etc. we didn’t sleep well because the hotel is incredibly noisy. We could hear the plumbing is neighbouring rooms which was incredibly loud.

The cleaners at the Golden Nugget, in Atlantic City, New Jersey clearly need some guidance in order for theirs do their job properly. It’s almost unbelievable that having only just recently reopened the guest rooms are already looking quite dirty.

On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, the complimentary bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion, and the soap were all refreshed for news one daily. We had lots of towels, and the water was lovely and hot, and the water pressure was good.
The TV was huge with a good signal. Parking only cost $5 a day.

We wouldn’t stay at the Golden Nugget, in Atlantic City, New Jersey again. The room was just too noisy. Despite just having been renovated, it needs to be done again, this time properly with insulation and thicker walls.
